My grandmother would watch them when i was at her place, but that has been many years ago now. On 6/2/2023 at 9:33 AM, Inarah said: June 2 Do you find your taste in figures and painting styles has changed over the years or are you still collecting the same miniatures that attracted you to the hobby? I am mostly still interested in the same types of figures. The painting style I like to look at has been pretty consistent over the last few years. To paint said style I would need to be independently wealthy so I had more time. Do you now or have you ever lived in areas prone to hurricanes? No. The closest i come to a hurricane is when the remnants track inland and it just rains some. Are you and your family prepared with an emergency plan and supplies if you need to evacuate or take shelter someplace else? I have some supplies, but not a great deal. This area is so spread out that it would be difficult to lose all of my shopping options simultaneously. I also live near a DOT hub, so as long as I can make it 2 blocks south or 2 blocks west the roads are always clear. 7 hours ago, Inarah said: June 5 Are you ready for summer? Summer around here means scorching temps ( well over 100 for weeks straight). I say I'm ready for that, but then it comes & I'm like "UGHHH, I hate this crap." Currently, I don't have the AC unit in the bedroom window, as it's not that hot up there yet. I'm also debating on getting a new one as the old just wants to blow cold air (duh! - but not AC unit cold), so hopefully the unit can survive anther season, but I may just say "F' it" & go get a new unit before they are all gone around here. As far a plans - eh, not really besides RCon & that, I'm currently painting for that, so hey it's progress!! I still need to transfer my room to someone for the Con, as I didn't realize my roommate had a room already. She got hers a day or two before the opening date at the Con rate. I do have a week's worth (last vacation for the yearly) in July & I have the night of the 24th off, due to "paid" bday & Free RPG Day that day.

I built this for my wife to spend her Summer mornings and lunches. Just have to finish dressing it with black dirt, dig in the electrical lines, and seed in the lawn. Beyond that, I'm going camping and kayaking soon. The only real vacations though are going to AR for Myles's White Coat ceremony and ReaperCon, both late in the summer. Will probably try to find a weekend sometime to go to the family cabin.

Corsair
6 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 6 Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc. Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? Yes, there are still some phone numbers I memorize. And passwords are kept locked in the gunsafe.
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted June 6 Moderator Share Posted June 6 13 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 6 Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc. Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? Combination of ways. Some stuff I memorize, some I write down like infrequently used addresses or phone numbers. I know you're not supposed to, but I also write down my work passwords; they make me change them too frequently to memorize them.
aku-chan
18 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 6 Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc. Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? Nope, my memory is terrible for things like that, I have an old fashioned address book I write that sort of stuff down in. For passwords I'm entirely reliant on my Chromebook remembering them for me, hopefully Google is too big to fail.
WhiteWulfe
38 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 6 Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc. Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? A combination of memorization, using speed dial, and of course Google's random password generator and save feature. Last one is especially handy for things like work that makes us change our password ever ninety days. I'd rather use a random generator than do the usual "add a number at the end" because a) you forget what number you're on, and b) oh hey, you wind up writing it down anyways. But I'm also lucky enough the only work thing I log into is our paystub software - others actually have to use their company emails, whereas mine within three months went dormant because the same people who set the ninety days rule say it's thirty for your email (thirty days of no logins means it's disabled. Yeah thanks, drivers don't have easy access to that system...)
TGP
37 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 6 Questions: Do you memorize phone numbers? I used to have that facility. But the cell phone took over. And now I could not call a friend from a borrowed phone. 37 minutes ago, Inarah said: Do you memorize passwords? I hope everyone else has the good sense to not publicly post any answers about this. 37 minutes ago, Inarah said: Do you memorize addresses? A few. I "know the way" to a few others. 37 minutes ago, Inarah said: Do you memorize account numbers? I have some memorized. But which ones will remain redacted. 37 minutes ago, Inarah said: Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? I put things in writing; I save scraps of paper with things pre-printed on them; I let the cell-phone store some things… It's all a nightmare — and I dread ever losing my cell phone.
Pezler the Polychromatic
53 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 6 Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc. Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? Phone numbers tend to get saved on the phone, passwords are remembered to keep the mind sharp.

Yes plastics and resins taste so much worse then a good piece of Ralidium which was a much need improvement to the taste of lead. Acrylic paints haven't changed much but definitely an improvement to Testros enamels (bleck). I still collect miniatures that make me go wow that's cool I need one of those. Phone numbers and addresses are kept in a small notebook although a few are memorised. Passwords are memorised or more often forgotten and changed when I need to login after a long time.

Boy Scout Summer Camp, Hitting the Appalachian Trail, cutting grass, Pool goes up this weekend, closing out with a family trip to ReaperCon.
Cranky Dog
1 hour ago, Inarah said: June 6 Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc. Or do you have another way of keeping track of them? I can only remember a few phone numbers, and some are no longer applicable (like my home phone number from when I grew up). So they're all in my phone somewhere. For addresses, I usually look them up online or look at old emails when relevant. Passwords, I only use a few with different variants (I know it's unsafe). And my browser keeps them stored in memory. And since my computers hardly ever go out in public. they're safe-ish. Contrast this to my mother's notebook that has everything and is a nightmare to locate anything as tons of outdated information is still in there.

I used to memorize phone numbers, but with mobile phones and not having to actually dial a number that is in the phone's memory has but an end to that. I memorize most passwords and card numbers. Account numbers are listed on the accounts' paperwork so no to account numbers.
