Do you memorize phone numbers, passwords, addresses, account numbers, etc.  Or do you have another way of keeping track of them?

I've worked in IT for roughly 30 years, at various times needing to know passwords for hundreds of servers, so I'm pretty good at remembering passwords. I do use encrypted password lockers to keep track of stuff I use too infrequently to memorize.

Phone numbers....it took me 3 + years to learn my own new phone number.  Beyond that I know my wife's cell number, and my parents' home number.  My cell knows any other numbers I need.

Addresses I don't normally memorize.  A lot of the time I don't actually know the address. Once I've been somewhere once I can normally find my way back without issue, so I usually don't worry too much about the address.  That only catches me out occasionally 🙂

Kind of.  I just use one number for everything.  It’s my bank account number, and I had my phone and all of my passwords changed to match it.  It was such a weird quirk of fate that it was my mothers maiden name that I felt I needed to take advantage of it.  It took years of searching to find a house in the area with the same number, but it was worth the cost and effort. Originally, I put it on a sticky note, but then I lost it.  But my backup plan has always been to call my wife and ask her my phone number…

Are you ready for summer?  For example, have you made vacation plans, set up the backyard pool, bought park passes, broken out the deck chairs, camping equipment, or planned for activities usually done in the summer?

Sort of.  Mrs. Strawhat usually handles most of the planning (I end up with the paying).  We don't do much around the house as we're really not into spending a lot of time outside.  I don't like to, and Mrs. Strawhat has allergies.

Some yes, some no.

I do like to leave phony passwords laying about the desk at work.  When my 20+ year old ergonomic keyboard finally bit the dust and was replaced, the IT guy picked it up and spotted one of the phony passwords and was about to say something when I just started laughing and told him that it was fake.

Yes, I'm the kind of person who would leave a random key under the doormat (or in one of those fake rocks), spent gift cards tucked into "obvious" hiding spots, etc.

Only important ones. Which is basically my parents landline. Once I got a cell phone it all went downhill with regard to memorizing things.

As for passwords, also a "only the important ones." Basically things I use every day or that have to do with finances. Everything else is stored in a password vault app on my computer. I only have to remember the password to the vault, and then input what site/account it is for, the username, and the password. When I need to login, I open the vault, double-click on the desired account, it copies my password which I then paste into the password bar, and presto, I'm logged in. The app clears the password from copy memory, so no one can try to copy/paste and see my password. Once I'm done, I can either lock the vault myself, or after 2-3 minutes of inactivity in the vault app it will lock itself. Really handy since everyone now wants special characters in passwords and changing them every 3/6/9 months.

Only downside is that if I ever forget the password to the vault, or if my laptop dies, I'm out of luck. You can't save a file of what is stored in there and transfer it to another PC (which would defeat the point of making it secure, right?).

I usually memorize passwords, adresses etc.

Cell phone numbers are more difficult.

I do keep encoded notes somewhere that only I understand in case I forget a password.

Streetnames  however, I forget. I can tell you that's the street where a certain store is or the office next to that park, but don't ask me what the name of the street is.

Some passwords and such I remember, others are written down and hidden. Some are in password managers.  House, dad's, and my phone numbers I have memorized.  When we went to get mom and I phones, I asked for an easy number.  They found one that all four of the last digits are the same.  Some numbers I remember when I see them on the phone, like doctors- the health system has the same prefixes, and while the outgoing calls rarely match the specific office number, I can tell they're related.  Besides, "spam risk" is my most frequent caller, and I don't pick up for him.  I remain unconvinced of its validity as a foodstuff, and as messages it is utterly unacceptable. I just can't block all the numbers because they never call from the same place twice, and they are often spoofing real numbers i might need.

I do wish I would quit getting calls and texts for Patricia. I know no Patricias. I've had this number over 15 years.

We just had a big family activity at church centered around this topic. I need to seriously consolodate things for a 72 hr kit, but most of it is easy enough to access. The biggest problem here is the pipes freezing in the winter, so we have a water cupboard. When it does happen, I just take my jugs to work and fill them. The Church is all about long term preparedness and you are supposed to have food for two years. While I probably don't have food for two years, I certainly do for several months, especially if the freezer is still working. I live too close to the highway to want to defend this place in the end of days anyway.

I know the rules say answer questions on the day they are asked, but I've been on vacation and I want to catch up, so hopefully nobody will get too mad at me...

Do you like trivia quizzes or game shows?

I do, but I haven't regularly watched game shows in many, many years.  I like playing trivia games, but rarely have the opportunity.

Do you find your taste in figures and painting styles has changed over the years or are you still collecting the same miniatures that attracted you to the hobby?

I've been painting regularly for a little over two years, but I painted me first miniature thirty years ago, so I'm not sure which starting point to use here.  I will say, though, that when I took up painting regularly two years ago I wanted to paint metal figures, as I assumed plastic would be far inferior.  I have since found that I like painting plastic just as much, and most of my painting is now plastic.

June is the beginning of Hurricane Season in the Americas.  Five tropical storms have already begun forming.  Do you now or have you ever lived in areas prone to hurricanes?

June 4

Where we live in central Texas, the chances of disaster are slight.  The area has some flooding issues, but not our house or neighborhood.  Gulf hurricanes are merely heavy rains by the time they make it inland to us.  Tornadoes are very rare.  We do have plans for disasters, though.

We just got back from our big family vacation; we left right when school ended.  We have a pool membership and some smaller summer plans, but my next big planned trip is ReaperCon in September.  Over the next few weeks we will work out any other travel we plan to do.

Passwords I definitely memorize; I have several that I reuse for minor accounts where I am not particularly worried about hacking (but I often forget which of those I used for any given account).  I used to know more phone numbers, and frankly I ought to have more of those memorized.

And now I'm caught up.  I'll try to come back every day for the rest of the month!

What was the biggest hobby miniature figure you painted by hand with a brush and paints? (Not spray paint, airbrush, "dip", speed paints, or finger paints)

Okay, the exterior did get spray painted aluminum but the interior was hand painted, a 1/48 scale B29 Superfortress model. Had a 3' wingspan.

I'm not sure, either Reaper's Colossal Skeleton ( Bones version), or a GW land raider.

Painting by hand with a brush is my only way of painting.

I think Kaladrax on the crypt qualifies here or my Lizardman Hero on the giant Crocosaurus.

I think Kaladrax is bigger.

I need to know more before I can answer. I may not have a single qualifying model. Depends on the restrictions.

Spray paint:

Most of my painted things were spray painted as a first step — rattlecan primer. Disqualified?

Airbrush:

Never done that to a miniature.

Dip:

I think I know what this is, what if I tried for the same effect but used a brush to get there? Disqualified?

Speed Paints:

Meaning? Used paint bottles labeled “speed paints” OR used some  technique intended to achieve a decent result quickly?  Does either disqualify?

Finger Paints:

Huh whut? (Either way, I’ve not done that to a miniature…)

I'll go with Dragons Don't Share 2014 Edition.  https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/83389-whitewulfe-attempted-the-7-day-goblin-challenge-dragons-dont-share-2014-edition-picture-heavy/

That has to count, doubly so with it having been a size 0 goblin 7 day challenge.

Apart from that, I typically prime with an airbrush, so following the words exactly, most of my newer stuff doesn't qualify, but if priming doesn't count, at present it's Meirsoa bust which is in progress, and eventually will be a Spires Abomination.

Arguably also in progress is my Zaku II Custom, since it'll be about 8" tall when done...
