On numerous occasions, sadly, especially when I did a brief stint as security. Most memorable one was security at a fast food joint, and the owner literally tells me to refuse someone entry because they didn't like the colour of their skin. I just stared at him for a few seconds with that "uhhhh, did you really just say that?" look and told him such would be unprofessional, not to mention illegal (it was a young teen that had a sunburn). Fought with dispatch for far too long when I refused to go there again, until I reminded them just how much trouble the company would be in if such were to be enforced, and how I didn't want that kind of paperwork, and I suspected neither did they. Usually though it's because a foreman wants their workers to do something not only downright stupid, but with a high likelyhood of serious injury of death, like mix bleach and ammonia to "clean the floors faster" or high strength cleaning solution that's caustic and "eh, nobody wears gloves with that" and everyone in the shop just looks at the guy as if he's an idiot because they literally just said sulfuric acid isn't dangerous. Editing to add: I have an especially strong pet peeve with supervisors who are careless with temporary workers, because "eh, they're just a temp, we can get a replacement tomorrow if need be". Dude, they're human beings, and are in that line of work for a variety of reasons, usually because they need money NOW and not in 2-5 weeks (plus however long it takes a company to get them through the hiring process, which in this day and age seems to be 6-9 weeks for an entry level position at far too many places... (Not spray paint, airbrush, "dip", speed paints, or finger paints) I'm pretty sure he's my largest fig I have painted. Sophie's Revenge is base coated at this point, once complete it would be the largest by far. 1 hour ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? He was my first attempt at a really big miniature. I'm trying to decide on another to try. 51 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? In my late teenage years I worked for several summers as a cashier at a small public water park (or perhaps it would be better described as a large neighborhood pool with a few water slides). The manager seemed to rather dislike me, though I never actually knew why. I was the best cashier they had, by far, but the manager decided to promote someone else, with less experience, to assistant manager over me. I wasn't thrilled, but I kept doing my job and even tried to help the new assistant manager get adjusted to the job. She complained to the manager about my help; she never said anything about it to me. When I asked what exactly I did wrong, the manager could not tell me any specific thing and in fact agreed that my help had been valuable, but said she was going to start the process of a formal reprimand anyway. I told her not to bother because I was done, and I clocked out and left.

I've painted a couple of larger figures, but they had airbrushed base coats. 58 minutes ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? A couple of times. Though they were all second jobs I had taken in addition to my full time job when I was putting my wife through college. So I wasn't relying on them to keep a roof over my head. There would have to be some truly awful conditions or bosses to make me walk off of a job I relied on to get by.

Nope. I would have liked to walk off some of the haying and other jobs I had a as a teen, but since it was our farm..... 🙂 Since then the only fairly crappy job I've had was as a dishwasher one summer in college. By the end of the summer I was the third most senior employee, so it was pretty much a revolving door. But I stuck it out for the duration.
Cranky Dog
2 hours ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? None that I recall. [Crosses fingers that it never happens.] Now that doesn't mean it was never bad, just that it was occasionally a temporary discomfort. I've left gaming groups more often.
aku-chan
1 hour ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? Yes, a couple of teenage me's early jobs. The first one, I was supposed to be going for a training day at a call centre. The call centre turned out to be this tiny, grotty, upstairs office and the training was "Here's a phone, here's some numbers, sell people our stuff." (The 2 supervisors then spent their time spitting on people out the window). As soon as they let us out for lunch I just walked away. The other one was working in a Burger King. It wasn't a bad job to begin with, but as time went on I kept getting stuck with the lousy shifts and doing a lot of cleaning. Finally, they had me cleaning the customers toilets with some spray cleaner and paper towels, some dude had got "over excited" using the urinals, and I realised I didn't need the job that bad. Told them I wouldn't be back once my shift ended, they didn't seem that bothered.

Like actually quit? Never. Along with @chaosscorpion, I have walked away to de escalate more times than I can count. I have also verbally eviscerated people quite a few times (that type of thing is still acceptable in the Navy).
Pezler the Polychromatic
3 hours ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? I had a job that was labour-intensive but I was starting to enjoy it, but the boss's son had such absolute contempt for the very position that he was training me in and there was such bitterness between him and his dad that I could see that it would be a big problem down the road, fortunately a few weeks into the job another place called me with a job offer, it paid less money but it got me out into the open air(though that place was extremely dysfunctional as well).

(Not spray paint, airbrush, "dip", speed paints, or finger paints) Hmmm, I tend to not want to hand brush larger figures. I guess it falls back on not wanting to hand brush model car bodies. Thou I did use AP Speedpaints on a very large skeleton from Rocket Pig Games last year for a RCon game. To apply the paint, you needed a brush. (lots of a Bone color Speedpaint...... + the other colors that I chose to use as well) Prior to that it might have been Huma's Silver dragon, or a similar sized Ral Partha dragon. Thou that was back in the 80s, so memory is a bit fuzzy when it comes to that era of the hobby. 3 hours ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? I have never walked off a job, as I know it would come back & haunt me when applying for a new job. Like allot of people on here, I've walked away when I had to.

I was blocked by Cloudfare...I'm a Bot...until Kit solved the problem today. I used to enjoy that sort of thing &, probably, still would, but I just don't watch TV anymore other than baseball, softball, & basketball games. Oh yeah, I started painting heavily converted historical stuff in 54mm for gaming; then more or less historically correct 30mm miniatures for Column, Line, & Square. In the late 70's I got hooked on D&D and fantasy became my thing (in 25/28mm). Now a days my eyesight has me painting larger, homegrown miniatures of a whimsical, folklore style. Are you and your family prepared with an emergency plan and supplies if you need to evacuate or take shelter someplace else? Other than the eleven years I lived in Texas. I have always lived in the path of most hurricanes. There have been some beauts that hit Long Island. I live in a fools paradise. I am prepared for nothing more serious than a paper cut. It was about 2 or 2 1/2 feet tall & made of concrete, I did it up to look like he got kicked out of Kiss for a bad attitude. 4 hours ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? Count Urlik
3 hours ago, Inarah said: June 8 Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job? Kind of. Back in ‘07 friend of mine from college invited me to consult with a biodiesel startup. They wanted me to join in full time, but after one full day in the presence of another person, a former roommate, I felt like leaving would be less awkward than murder…. So, I never really had the job, but I did walk out on it.
ejala
I've had to quit several jobs for health reasons, mostly mental. When you get to "please let me get in a car wreck so I don't arrive," and "if I stay here I will hurt myself or someone else," you need to go. Now the first job I had out of college I left because my coworkers were literally making me ill. We traveled in the company's van, and practically everyone but me was a smoker. Even when they made the one van non smoking while driving, just the years of tobacco made me sick. I'm allergic to cigarettes. Lasted maybe two months until I was too ill to keep working. The month at Burger King was an unprofessional, unsafe, unsanitary hell which saw me fall multiple times, get burned by fryer oil, and lose several layers of skin off my hands from cleaners with no gloves. Walked away, try not to eat much fast food (not hard, wasn't a fan to start), and definitely never there.
Brother Jim
The biggest thing I ever painted was a Final Fantasy VIII Cerberus action figure that I was using as a custom Bio-Titan for the Tyranids I had. Way back around 3rd or 4th Edition, I think. Maybe 5th, whichever one had a Chapter Approved book for custom vehicles. It was black spray primed after fixing the joints in place and gap filling. Then painted in an Arctic pattern. (Yes, I was crazy to prime black for a white paint scheme).,
