Enchantra
Alright, My mailbox has this nifty thing called a junkmail box, and anything that comes from someone NOT in my address book goes straight to this junkmail box. I never open anything that ends up in this junkmail box unless it was something from a friend's new email address I had not added yet to my address book. Anyways, Lately when I open up Hotmail I'm noticing that I am sometimes very close to quota. Why? Because a lot of the junkmail is suddenly coming with attachments. Thank heavens I don't open the stuff. It seems to be a trend though where half my junkmail has attachments and before almost none of it did. This some new trick Spam emailers are trying to get people to read their mail?
Jeneki
This means I might actually get less junk mail: My inbox should fill up to maximum quicker. :p I still remember returning from GenCon weekend: 10,972 emails ...
Spike
One thing you might consider... I think you can customise some email services to automatically BLOCK any mail with attachments. Of course you'd want to temporarily shut off the feature if you're expecting an attached-file email. For what it's worth Hotmail is notorious for being a Conduit Of Spam. Be especially leary of RE or CC mails with vague subject-headings from known-senders such as friends or family. There are some evil little warez out there that prowl your address book for common words and addresses and conjure up bogus emails in an attempt to trojan-horse your friends. Yeah, I already know about those and keep an eye out for them. The helpful thing in all this is I usually know if something is bogus because most of my friends know to send attachments to my Yahoo account instead so if I see an attachment from them in my Hotmail account and I have not been told to watch for it, it gets deleted without being opened. Zordana
I get a heap of spam / virus attachments in one of my email accounts. Thankfully norton deletes them all. Its either the attachments or the viagra.
shakhak
Yahoo does not count the items in your Bulk(Junk) towards your allowed space. I also think it has better spam protection than hotmail, but I haven't used hotmail in over a year. I also think yahoo allows you more space. Enchantra
Half of the Spam I get is for Viagra or Cialis. Funny, I'm FEMALE and don't need the stuff. I also get a lot of email for enlargement of the same body part that those drugs work for. Oh and the other one I get a lot of is for amortization statements and mortgage refinancing. I don't own a home so I just find these laughable by their title alone.
Zordana
The enlargement ones make me laugh. My older email account is basically for junk now, I made a new one ( i think im allowed 5 through my isp) because of it. Gmail is quite good at spotting and removing spam as well. I have a few invites sitting around if anyone wants an account come to think of it.

House of Dexter
yeah...its a spammer trick to findout if your email is real or dead... They create a unique image for each email...and if the image is downloaded...they know they got a winner...luckly...programs like Mozillas Thunderbird do not download images without your permission.
