Painting goals for July 2023

Recommended Posts

What are people planning on painting this month?

My goals for July are:

  •  Paint a game token from Marvel United
  •  Start on some Mithril miniatures for the quarter
  •  Paint a figure from the annual box.
  •  Finish some undead for the game Rangers of Shadow Deep
  •  Work on some more terrain tiles. I have been adding adhesive cork bottoms to my tablescapes tiles

    buckyball

Hobby goals for 2023

Painting one large terrain piece each quarter or several smaller pieces. The goal here is to complete enough, to use in a game or scenario [Check!]

Painting the 17 miniatures in my annual box  [ 11 so far]

Painting  one game token each month [ 7 so far ]

Painting three Mithril miniatures each quarter. This works out to an average of one per month; but this way I can paint them in batches [ 7 so far]

I also have the unusual goal of not buying any miniatures (for myself) in 2023. I have no idea how I will accomplish this ( 221 days since my last miniature purchase)

Honestly, I don't know.  I've had a list of figures I'm "working on" for the last 6 months and have made very little progress.  Elbow/arm pain is one big deterrent.

I'm working on some figures for a scenario I want to run.  I'm doing base-coats and washes, or contrast/speed paints on as much as possible.  Quality won't really matter.

What to do in July?

More Genestealers, of course!

I've gotten the next batch primed and assembled:

  • 10 Neophyte Hybrids (with autoguns this time).
  • 5 Aberrants (parts swapped around a bit).
  • 1 Nexos (character type).
  • 1 Abominant (character type).
  • 1 Primus (warleader type who, disappointingly, has nothing to do with Les Claypool).
  • 2 Psychic Familiars.

Painted quite a bit more in July than I thought I would.  Did the above plus a PC figure, a large mushroom guy, and  a 3d printed Adventure Cats bard.

August looks promising.

July was disappointing. The living situation (Youngest and Strawbonnet 2 have lived with us for about five months now) is not pleasant, and Strawbonnet 1 has spent most of the month here as well due to home health issues,  planned vacation activities, etc.  I made some progress at the beginning of the month, but was not able to maintain momentum.

The Hybrids are assembled, but not even primed.

The Aberrants are mostly done.  I need to paint up their weapons and do some finishing touches.

The Nexos is about half finished.

The Abominant is nearly finished.  His familiar needs some work, as does his weapon and the random bag of skulls.

The Primus has been started, but needs a lot of work.

The Psychic Familiars are assembled and primed.

Who knows if anything will get done in August?

My aim for July is to keep my painting streak alive. I’m on Day 83 and counting.

Bit of a challenge coming up next week as I have a 2 day interstate trip for work, but I think I can keep it alive with a bit of planning.

This was a success for me. Less painting done in July compared to previous months, but I maintained my painting streak. Up to Day 96 now, so bring on the century!
