Lovely work, although I did wonder for a minute what the blue thing on the base was.  I don't believe I have seen this figure before.

Thank you Inarah!  That little blue bump is one of her shoes! This is a pretty new figure, sculpted by Tom Meier.  He sculpted it in conjunction with the Ral Partha Legacy’s most recent Kickstarter where they introduced some new elf figures, some new dwarves, a few new trolls and lots of orcs.  I think the Kickstarter fulfilled in April-May, trying to recall, and this is the first one of those that I’ve had time to paint.  The good thing now with all their Kickstarter models is that they are now on the Ral Partha Legacy web site available for sale already!

luv the face on her, very nice.

Thank you very much, it was kind of hard, because not too big and the eyes are teeny tiny.

You gave her a wonderful paintjob!

About eyes: if they get too small, I just try to give the impression of them being there, because if I try to paint them, it's going to lead to frustration and the figure never being finished.

She looks great, love those muted pastel colours.

I still need to learn how to do that!

Any tips?

Thanks Glitterwolf!

The way I do it is by starting with a very light color to begin with.  For both of those I started out with Leather White. I didn't do it with Pure White because I wanted a highlight color still on top of everything.  So with Leather White as your main color, then I just do my washes, started out with Lemon Yellow, then Sun Yellow, then Lantern Yellow, then some oranges, then some browns and some pinky purples.  I don't even remember what the last wash was and sometimes I wonder if they even matter or how much they can be noticed, but that's the way I do it at least!

While I cannot offer any advice on the eyes (since I never paint them), I can say that the highlights on her hair are truly amazing!

Thanks Max, hope she's registering as some kind of golden blonde hair.

Thanks Chaoswolf!

I always just feel like they have to be painted and too small would really have to be small, like on 15mm figures or something.  One of my next one is a halfling that was destroyed at one point in a Partha mold, but Ral Partha Legacy gave it over to Tom Meier to resculpt and the face is great, but the eyes are pinpoints, so I may end up doing something like just darkening them in on something so small.

Lovely painting, the robes are devine!

My only cheat for difficult  eyes is to have them in the corner, like they’re glancing to the side.  That gets away from the centering problem, and you only have two zones to hit.

I’ve done this before albeit quite by accident!

So from the collective hive mind, when you have small eyes on a figure, do you try to keep within the actual confines of what has been sculpted or do you go outside of the boundaries?

assuming the painter is capable definitely stay inside like you have,  i think that's best, most people can't though, i know i can't, so i usually wind up with something bigger

she is lovely

Thank you Fencing!

with her, I think I've stayed more or less in the lines, but I'm not so sure as all that paint has just obscured the actually sculpted eye detail, another curse of the eyes being so small..
