Vallejo Metal Colors

Recommended Posts

I'd like to pick up some of Vallejo Metal Colors - the basics (silver, gold, copper, steel) but I cant seem to find these in a set.

Does anyone know if you can get these in a set, or do I have to buy them individually?

I don't think they have that in a set unless you buy the full range.  Honestly, I find copper, gold, gunmetal, and silver the best combo, too. Aluminum is REALLY bright, so be aware.

To clarify, I want the actual Metal Color line (not the Game Color line)

I know that there are a few different Metal Color sets, but none that have the all the basics: silver, gold, copper, steel etc.

Another thing you could try out, which I've found are similar is the Vallejo Model Air metallics, which have great flow and consistency, too. They aren't as runny as the metal color line, but they are easier and cheaper.  I have both and can say they're both good. Finding the metal color line is difficult (and pricy).

Problem is, the here's very little choice in the Metal line, if you don't want something silver.

I've got silver, steel, chrome, copper, gold, burnt iron and exhaust manifold.

Really like the steel and the silver. The copper is nice, as well.

The gold is very shiny, but has a greenish hue, which I hate.

Chrome is comparatively matte, I regret the purchase.

And the last two are a sort of brownish silver for which I've yet to find a good use.

I think those colours are produced with the scale modelling community in mind.

If you want to try them out I'd recommend to get the steel, the silver and maybe the copper and the gold. I wouldn't pull the trigger on the whole line, there's a lot of hit&miss.

Just my 2C...
