And are you particular about where you get your coffee? I will have a shot of espresso if I need a boost, or an iced coffee if I want to upset purist coffee drinkers.

And are you particular about where you get your coffee? Yes, yes, and yes. What, I'm not super picky, and first thing in the morning pre-ground makes your life a thousand times easier. At present it's Kicking Horse Pass Kick broccoli coffee, but I do like to order from Outpost or Rosso on occasion because their coffee is rather lovely. When I do get whole bean, I looooove a red honey process Costa Rica, but generally I'm more for dark roasts on the French version of that scale... I like my flavours bold and intense, but you need a very specific origin to get good flavours that remain during the roast. Not a fan of Columbian coffee. A lot of it does have wonderful flavour profiles, but there's too much bitterness, and I don't like my beverages to give me heartburn.

Turns out that I just wasn't having nice coffee! He grinds his own beans and I've since discovered that I really like cortados! It turns out my senses are not able to discern differences like one bean versus another. I did visit a coffee place where they had 28 or more kinds of beans and they’d grind it for you or sell you whole beans. But it was all lost on me. 23 hours ago, Thoramel said: Question September 13: Coffee, […snip…] And are you particular about where you get your coffee? Dunkin Donuts cold brew with some chocolate added was acceptable. But lately it is this, and only this: They have differently colored labels (different bean blends?) but I just like how smooth and never burned it tastes. If you're somewhere they don't grow corn, is there anything equivalent to a giant maze cut into a corn field? Yes I have, thou it's been many year ago. We used to take the kids when they were younger. Heck we even went through one when my daughter was taking a kid rearing class for health or home economics. She had one of those dolls that if you ignore it, it would cry & do things a regular baby would do. I think that made her really think about having kids, haha. 23 hours ago, Thoramel said: Question September 13: Coffee, yes or no? If yes, do you buy pre ground coffee or whole bean? And are you particular about where you get your coffee? Two words - hell no. I don't like the smell, & tbh I don't understand the "fanatism" towards it. (Ie the people that wait in very long lines & pay close 10 bucks for a small cup of whatever blend/style they consume. The coffee aisle at work is one of those I tend to let someone else stock when it comes to bagged varieties.

I wouldn't fight 'em all, I'd kill the leader and then take over. I'd be using a pocket knife and a big honkin' wrench. ( I ALWAYS have a knife on me, and there happens to be a wrench within arms reach at the moment. 1

But If I had to I would make sure i was on the top of the stairs, only room for one at the time and I trust I can still dish out a nice kick. Ater they have landed upon each other at the bottom of the stairs they will see the error of their ways and be ready to join WOOF! Though they'd probably eat me in the end. Plan B would be to use a strong net and stomp them into submission.

Depends on how hungry the half orc is...

The hope would be that they would never get to me, as they'd need to get through the security on the first floor first. The desk jockeys there might not be too much of a fight for them, but I assume there are alarms and such, and some of the higher level Sec Ops are former Canadian Special Forces.... While that is going on, we could easily barricade the stairs and I expect the elevators would get disabled by security. The main stairs could be easily held once barricaded, and there is a convenient "pit of doom" to knock them back down to to lobby. If that doesn't hold, a quick retreat to the secured 90% of our floor would slow them for a while. Eventually even security glass can break. At which point it would finally be hand to hand. We have enough keyboards and monitors here to keep pounding on them for quite a while once they get in, and the execs' offices and meeting rooms would make good places to gather in, with limited access and yet more security glass to break through. So......quite a few, at least until they finally get to me. Then? I'm old, and a big target. But I do have a fairly high pain tolerance. And I'm used to dealing with cats and the like. So it would likely take a few to bring me down. 1

Well, first I arm myself with that "battle saxophone" that was mentioned in a different thread on here & then I would blast them with the soothing sounds of Kenny G played by someone who can't play a wind instrument!!!

I have no idea how big a kobold is but if I brain a few with my keyboard and drop kick some across the room maybe the others will give pause.
ejala
Is the car a melee weapon? The deer that walked into my fender didn't get hurt, but I did run over and kill a small turkey once. (It walked into the middle of the highway. I tried but couldn't avoid it.) Otherwise, no training, no stamina, no weapons beyond kitchen equipment...I might brain a few with a frying pan before they get me, but I'm likely a goner.

If I had a pick of weapons and could retreat to a choke point, a spear with a crossguard. at least 4 If I have to make do with what I have - a 16 oz ergonomic hammer. probably 2. I am fairly strong, especially with a hammer motion, but I tire easily. It is also assuming I could kill an intelligent being .. which is far from a certainty.
