Do you use Taklons or Kolinsky Sables?  Or some other sort of brush? Discuss:

I use whatever I can get my hands on.

Most of what I've got is cheaper stuff, but I have been gifted some very nice brushes that I use very sparingly, and very carefully. The cheaper ones I'm not as careful with.

I mostly use sables, but have some synthetics for use metallics and the like.
I should probably look at ordering some new brushes soon (it's been 5+ years I think) , or else giving my current ones a really good cleaning......so probably buy some new ones 🙂

Weekend Quest, Nov 18-19:
Tell us a story about something interesting that has happened to you.  Bonus points if it is something you haven't shared here yet.

Okay, here's one I haven't told...  Late in high school I stole a 5th of whiskey from my folk's place and went into the woods and split it with a friend.  I drank most of it.  We went to another friend's house, John.  Not only was the alcohol gone by the time we got to John's, but that's about the time I blacked out.  Apparently, in between projectile vomits and the eventual dry heaves I started mumbling that I had to get home in time for dinner.  This was a midday escapade.  One friend just wanted to dump me off on the sidewalk in front of the house, but my friend John was a more decent human being, even as a wayward teenager.  But he knew what was coming, so he started to coach me: "Repeat after me: I got drunk and went to John's house"  Over and over he had me repeat it: I got drunk and went to John's house.

They brought me over to the house. I was staggering as John helped me up the front steps.  As he helped me through the living room heading towards my bedroom (up the stairs), my mom picked up on the commotion and confronted us.  We were halfway up the stairs.

"What the hell happened to you?!" she demanded.

John looked at me, as I woozily stared down the flight of stairs.  It was my moment, and he'd prepared me for it.  I tried to remember what I was supposed to say, and John was nodding as I started in:

"I went to John's and got drunk."

John's shoulders sank, and I'm pretty sure he just shoved me up the last few steps and into the door of the room.  He didn't say a word to my mom as he walked out, shaking his head.

Man was I hungover.  I don't think John even spoke to me for a week...

Mostly Kolinsky Sables.  I have some Monument synthetics that I like for base coating, inks and washes.  I have a whole collection of cheapies that get used for dabbing off mistakes, spreading glue on bases, etc...   I also have a set of makeup brushes for dry brushing, I'm not sure the material there.

I tend to use whatever. I did use Army Painter's Kolinsky Masterclass this past summer & I really liked it but overall my brushes tend to be non-kolinsky hairs. I do have a couple of W&N brushes I picked up at a art store in Eugene that I really like. I tend to not use them all the time. They aren't #7s but some sorta watercolor brush. I took pics of the handle & UPC code, so I can pick the same brush up next time I'm over in Eugene.

I mostly use sales, but I do have a couple synthetic brushes that came as part of a pack and some from Ma Strawhat's crafting supplies.

As far as I can assassinate a regular brush, I can get a synthetic brush to hook its tip even faster.

I used to use some Rosemary and Co Red Sable Blend ones, but they started getting a bit expensive with how regularly I murder my brushes so I've switched to some of their synthetic ones.

Had grilled turkey, at our work potluck last week. I've only ever had oven cooked turkey for Thanksgiving before this.

Answer this question.

Actual answer will be visit Hayes Presidential Library in Fremont OH.  This was the first Presidential Library in the US.  I forgot that he was the reason for most of the rules that were broken in 2020.  Both parties did a lot of election rigging when he was elected.
