Ulyss Brisonne
Hi- welcome to my first posting! I'm sneding out a query, really- over the Christmas break I have a plan to create some pdf textures in photoshop that can be used to make buildings of all types. I won't go into detail now but I was wondering how much use people would have for this kind of thing before I spend a couple of days creating walls and doorway textures. Let me know a. if it's useful and b. what you'd like to see. Thanks! :)
Chrome
Welcome to CAV Ulyss! There are already several of these done by Quester and Blitz over at Mil-Net (http://www.mil-net.net/terrain.cfm), including a how-to for making foam core buildings by Blitz in the Terrain section. You'll probably want to check them out before you start on yours. Once you've got them done, email them to me at [email protected] and I'll add them to our page of "wall" papers. Moderator Froggy the Great Posted December 16, 2002 Moderator Share Posted December 16, 2002 I'd certainly be interested in some more. Go for it.
Morgramen
Well, I have nver actually tried these, nor have I looked about for them much. Thinking about it now though, some textures things like road cobbles and windows would be good. You could cover the paper in clear film for durability (and also give the glass a bit of a shine in the windows). The cobblestone/pving stone ones would be useful for roads and just about a hundred other things. Hmmm......
John Bear Ross
I'd love to see some urban terrain in PDF! Top of my wish-list: The sci-fi hospital (encircled cross at the top of the building) from the CAV rules manual, pictured in the background where the Wraith is shooting at the scrambling Vanquisher. It'd make a good target to defend from a Malvie assault, or could be a Templar HQ building! Remember, in N scale, every 3/4 inch equals 10 feet of real life. Rough rule of thumb: every inch equals a story of building height. Best, John Bear
Ulyss Brisonne
Cool! I checked out the mil-net ones- very nice-this is very much what I had in mind- I'm thinking a couple of generics- walls, a door and window collection, maybe a "pipe" wrap for tubing, that kind of thing, plus some "project" pieces like the aforementioned hospital- nice idea I should have something by say, just after Christmas once job stuff settles down a bit- I'll email them to MilNet as it seems to be a happenin' place CAV wise- in the interim, any other ideas mucho appreciated! Moderator Froggy the Great Posted December 16, 2002 Moderator Share Posted December 16, 2002 If you do the hospital, I'll probably make a couple. On my wish list are the likes of garages, hospitals, refineries, barracks, and suchlike.
Ghost Rider
Welcome Ulyss, I would love some more "wall" papers. seeing as I have no artistic ability (other than being able to paint mini's) I can finally get my city up and running I did find a good source for scale roads - the local train shop carries pavement for n-scale train layouts. I blacked oud the railroad crossings but left the yellow and white stripes. it cost $6 for 9 feet of road.
nadinbrzezinski
Hey John does this mean that the Red Cross is still a Targetting Acquisition Device (TAG) in the 23rd century? :D Been there done that and it ain't fun, but why would my beloved followers of Khardullis assault a hospital full of injured possible converts to the true and only faith? Now the Rach on the other hand... :p On a side note, welcome to the game, and the more textures the better. Nadin
