Stern Kestrelmann
Okay, got her flesh and face done this evening. She's a real beauty... Keep in mind I did this while watching the VP debate. Here's my question; do I paint her upper lip to match her lower lip? SK
Anastrianna
Very nice start. I love her eyes. The top lip does need something. Right now it looks like her top lip is black...IMO.
Decado
Hey thats a great start. Are the hands claws? They kinda look that way. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished version. Decado

Mourningcloud
hey stern, how do you do the light/dark areas with your priming. i assume you are doing a kind of underpainting affect, a la the incomparable mr louchard.
Darkstar
I don't recommend painting her upper lip with the same color as her lower lip. Unless you want to go for the "Botox Clown" look. I tend to usually just use "Dwarf flesh" for all upper lips, shaded with a sepia ink to blend it in with the shadow being cast considering the light source being above the overhang of the upper lip. Purely methodically speaking of course.
Enchantra
Very nice so far SK! I cannot wait to see the final product.
stormcloud
I love the flesh color very smooth. Maybe just a bit of darker flesh on the top lip would help highlight it. Of course that is just my 2 cents and it only two cents Canadian, so its really only worth about 3/4 of a cent US.

LOL Line job on the face - I have no suggestions of my own as I am a third rate painter and just go "Botox Clown" . . .
Stern Kestrelmann
Okay, gave her top lip a little color as suggested. Started on her gown and have based her shirt sleeves... I am considering making her topless, yes I know. But heck, If I'm painting while shirtless what's the big deal? SK
pae
Another purple Hyrekia! Run for the hills, everyone!
Darkstar
Instead of topless, try a translucent top and sleeves... that'll keep you busy for awhile...plus I haven't seen one of those on Hyrekia yet
FirstLevelFighter
Off to another great start, SK! Her face is lovely. I'm liking Darkstar's suggestion about a gauzy, translucent material for her top and sleeves. I haven't seen that either, and I think that would be more appropriate and much cooler for this figure. I enjoy your work-in-progress threads. It's fun to watch your progress and see the mini develop as you work. You get some instant feedback as well, and you seem to enjoy that right back. Thanks, SK. Stern Kestrelmann
Well, I didn't get the suggestions from DS about the translucent idea until after I had started with my own idea... But thanks for the FB DS and FLF. picture one picture two picture three picture four SK Edited October 10, 2004 by ladystorm
pae
I should clarify that I really like this, Stern. My comment on the purples was because I'd already painted this mini twice in purple (once for Jenova, and again for eastman on a commission). Shortly after that, The Masses (or was it The Shine?) posted a purple Hyrekia.
