vejlin
I keep a plastic skull with a pirate hat and eyepatch on the top of our attic stairs. :) I call it "Agent skully" LOL BTW I believe TaleSpinner is correct about you parents motivations. Also the whole "tool" discussion could be usefull, although I wouldn't bring up the whole guns don't kill people thing (unless your parents agree with that point of view) Kim
Lars Porsenna
Luckily for me, this has never been an issue. It's cool to listen to your dad's collection of Black Sabbath, FREX, since we both listen to it. I've even bought my dad statues, paintings, and the like done by the more famous fantasy artists such as Frazetta and the like. He never stood in my way of playing D&D and have had some sort of D&D or RPG interest, library, or product all my life. My grandparents were less accepting, though for them I think it was "out of sight, out of mind." As for skulls, I think most of my GW Eldar, High Elfs, and Dwarfs are entirely skull free for the most part...though I think my Space Marines have a few skulls here and there, as well as my Dark Reapers. Qwyksilver
My favorite candy dish when I was in HS and college, was a resin cast skull with a removable top. I kept it on my desk filled with M&Ms all the time. I also kept my letter opener, which looked like a 6" long (pommel to tip) dagger firmly imbedded in the left eye socket. It also was a handy bowl to store dice in if I was out of M&M's (which rarely happened).
Ironworker
I guess I was lucky growing up. My parents were both educators. My father taught high school for 30 years. They both knew the factors that led kids down the wrong paths and they knew it wasn't Rock music or D&D. Despite what the popular media will try and tell you gamers are just like everyone else. Some of us are good some of us are not. Like any group of people we have our bad apples. It is odd to me that people won't let the D&D thing go. How many stories have we heard in the last few years about children being molested at churches and church functions by priest and other church officials? Yet people don't lable churches as evil. There is no outcry to keep children out of churches. You would think that people would understand that it's not the game that is at fault but some of the individuals who play the game. They seem to understand this about churches. No matter how good something is there will always be people who will try to twist it to their own personal gain. There seem to be an awful lot of people who only want simple answers in life. Bad guys wear the black hat. Good guys wear the white hat. Skulls are evil. Ect....... I guess it helps them get through the day. However the reality is that things are not black and white. Sometimes the guy in the white hat is evil and the guy in the black hat is the hero. People often lable gamers as out of touch with reality but in fact in my experience it's the non gamers who are living a fantasy.
Kellyn
I thought it was a little mask instead of a skull on her sash ...The Thor mini has the same thing on his beard. maybe I'm just looking at it wrong? Honestly, I'm with Chastity on this one. I've always thought it was like a drama mask; there's no bottom jaw at all, and it's a bit rounderish... or something... than most skulls. I definitely painted mine as a mask. *grin* Granted, it's still all white... but much more Phantom of the Opera than anything. Jess
Froy The Orc
For those who want to read an incredibly well put together report about satanism and D&D here is the link http://www.rpg.net/sites/252/quellen/stack...ing_report.html As far as the skulls on the miniatures, I am sure it is just your luck. The last couple I have picked up have not had any skulls. Froy
