sparky
Ok, I have seen that clicky mechs today. They look good. Didnt tried the rules yet, but... They are painted, and are articulated. The design is not cheap. They got a classic name in the boxes...What do you think...??? CAV minis are really cool, but i'm afraid that the other company will overload the market with the clicky mechs. I was talking to a local supplier yesterday, while the CLICKS have made him a little bit of money, he recieved a warning from the distribluters that if he did not have enough of the CLICKS that as of first of the week he would be S.O.L. †It seems as though the strike on the west coast is going to shatter the limited collectable supply chain of the Tiawanees game. So Games be if you do the CLICKY thing you have just a few more days to get your collectable fix.
Ghost Rider
Also my FLGS has mentioned that this shipment coming is the last one, as there are noe more available. aparrently the mfg. wasn't sure how well it would do and hasn't run any more. He was told that his next case of product was the last available ymmv
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted October 3, 2002 Moderator Share Posted October 3, 2002 I'm sorry, what happened now? Some strike? What? Ack?
John Bear Ross
The Dockworker strike/lockout that's costing the US economy an estimated $1 BILLION with a "b" per day. Ships coming in from overseas aren't being unloaded, and they're stacking up out in international waters. How it affects Klickytech: Turn them over...says "Made in China", don't it? Ain't no more comin' in for a while. Now, look on the back of your shredded CAV blisters...says "Made in Dallas, TX", don't it? Thus, buying CAV is a patriotic effort! At least, that's how I rationalize my purchases to the wife.   Best, John Bear Ross Hellion Productions
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted October 3, 2002 Moderator Share Posted October 3, 2002 Holy freekin' borscht onna stick... Okay, I guess that could have that effect. Do you have a link to a story on it? This is the first I've heard.

nadinbrzezinski
Well the only problem with the Longshormen strike and Hawaii is that it not only affects the supply of plastic crack (and other gaming material), but also affects the supply of things a tad closer to my heart: FOOD. On the plus side I am not there since my sis is having a baby, hence in San Diego... on the down side, when I go back I can expect to pay through the roof, even for a simple loaf of bread, or some fresh fruit. Oh well, good that I can buy at the exchange, the USAF will fly supplies in to keep us happy. Nadin

When MK was released, there was little or no concern from the gaming community supporting the other minis games (namely, WHFB); I mean, Chainmail even came out after the release of MK and was doing quite well (OK, reasonably well, in any case), until the execs at Hasbro decided that the return on this line wasn't on par to their other toy lines. Now, MWDA comes out and I see a lot of people crying that their games (Sci-Fi, this time), are going to be swallowed by it. As a long time Battletech player, I'm certain that this is the only game that will be replaced by MWDA, and still, I buy the pewter models and play the game because it IS fun. So, as long as people play, there should be no problem. BTW: Congrats on your new niece or nephew, Nadin ;)
lstormhammer
Speaking as someone living near one of the major port cities (Oakland) it is pretty eerie seeing so bleep many shipping containers just sitting at the docks, sitting in the bay, and from what I hear, sitting off the coast. --lstormhammer
FreeFall
Dateline Omaha, NE - Nuke-Con 2002.... People seen playing MWDA - maybe 10-15 Number of people we demo to and who joined the ongoing CAV game on saturday alone - 20+ Having seen the reactions of most people, MWDA is no threat to CAV. Almost every old Battletech player who has tried MWDA is disappointed if not disgusted with it. CAV was never meant to replace Battletech, it's a game unto itself. By the same token it's not REALLY in competition with MWDA. They have two totally different target audiences. MWDA appeals primarily to kids and those who just want something that doesn't require any work to play. CAV appeals to those who like to play and paint the minis, who appreciate a more indepth game. The only danger it poses to CAV is through the fermenting of the perception that they are similar. That's where Black Lightning comes in, to clarify the true nature of CAV. nadinbrzezinski
Thanks for the congratulations, we are still waiting for the baby to decide to join the rest of the world and be born... I guess I will have to go get a pogo stick. Now to the observations: The players that are atracted to MW DA in the local areas I have visited, or seen (Hawaii and San Diego) tend to be adults, who used to play Tech and are trying it once again... though most buy some, play and that is about it. I have yet to see kids playing it. Though from what my local retailers in now two different states have said, MW DA is not helping the sales of CBT either. That said, I will buy as many Joust Tanks as I can find in the secondary market... why? Get some un-cure.... easy as pie to remove from bases and now I have a Lance or a Heavy Gear Tank. Will prime it tonight and paint it... I mean sorry but that Davion color scheme is not good enough for me. As to the rest, fully agreed Chrome, that is why I am doing demos while in San Diego. I mean I did carry about two companies worth of material to do that.. run demos. Oh and I have been able to schedule two. Nadin
Chrome
Ugh! FreeFall, not me. And I don't know where FF saw 15 people playing MW:DA this weekend... the largest game I saw going on was 4 people. They did have a couple of 1 on 1 games going on Sunday, but the guy who was running those games was one of the players, so he was only getting in one new player at a time.
