Cerridwyn1st
Prince Danithal, Warlord of the Elves, is a Mage 1/4. He also has Defensive Magic. There are only two Defensive Mage Spells - Bolt (cg 2) and Dispell (cg 3). Neither of these spells are within his casting ability. I thought maybe the Defensive Magic was something he'd be able to use in a Campaign setting, perhaps a higher level would make him a more powerful spellcaster, but that isn't the case. So what gives? Is this a misprint? Should he have a higher casting ability, or NOT have Defensive Magic, with a lower point cost?
Saint of Sinners
perhaps more spells will be forth coming in future suppliments.
Cerridwyn1st
Mayybeee - or maybe he should be a Mage 2/8? Bryan?
shakhak
My vote goes for "to be used for later spells yet to be released". Then again, Having two badass fighter mages in the faction wouldn't be that bad of a thing. With either outcome I'm pumped. More spells or a cooler warlord. There is no BAD outcome. claymoore
Prince Danithal, Warlord of the Elves, is a Mage 1/4. He also has Defensive Magic. There are only two Defensive Mage Spells - Bolt (cg 2) and Dispell (cg 3). Neither of these spells are within his casting ability. I had this same question and did a search before posting. If the answer was posted elsewhere could someone please direct me to it. Having a special ability and not being able to use it diminishes the characters quality. Thanks
Lord Baasen
It will probably be explained/defined in the Faction Books.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted February 8, 2005 Moderator Share Posted February 8, 2005 Then again, Having two badass fighter mages in the faction wouldn't be that bad of a thing. What I read here was "Having two badgers in the faction..." Aiee. Okay, hijack over. Carry on.
Ankhef
I foresee new level one spells, that can be cast defensively, in the elven faction book.
Gus Landt
I can't find it, but I recall this being brought up about 4 months ago or so. At the time, Reaper (I think it was Bryan) said that the 1/4 was correct, and that the army faction book would make it useful.
Spartan6
Which we can expect to see "soon".
Chrome
Argh, it's in the 2nd half of the "projected" release queue.
claymoore
Since there is no real answer I'll play Danithal as a 2/8 Mage, at least until the faction book comes out. Thanks
abngi
Since there is no real answer I'll play Danithal as a 2/8 Mage, at least until the faction book comes out. Thanks There is a real answer: he has a useless ability (defensive magic). He is officially playable as such. So, did you waste a buch of points? No, because most of the points are built into the defensive-capable spells. The design intent is to make things forward-compatible. There is currently no defensive spell at casting grade 1, but there may be in the future. When one comes out, there will be no need to errata every mage, and (in my opinion more importantly) no need to get every faction book to keep up with the changes. Incidentally, an easy fix is to (as a house rule) change him to 2/4 rather than 2/8 - enables the trait without impacting his spell capability. Moderator Froggy the Great Posted February 9, 2005 Moderator Share Posted February 9, 2005 Mage 2/4 allows him to cast fireballs, however. Is that what you want?
Lord Baasen
and he'd cost more.
