Yay!

I got comix! ^_^

Went to the comic book store yesterday to get Thor: Son of Asgard #10, and ended up getting that plus two others I've never bought before - Witchblade #80, and a Conan one-shot (Daughters of Midora).

They bloody rock!

Happy happy happy... ::D:

Even if you don't like them that much, you should really check out the Astonishing X-Men. The presentation is excellent.

Oh yeah! So far I've been VERY impressed with this series...MUCH better than Uncanny. So impressed, I think I'm going to add it to my regular pull.

I've read ALL of the Essential X-men series' to date. Just keep reading...I think this series and the issues featured are some of the best from that era and in comic books in general...I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Now reading: Essential SPider-Man Vol 1

got burned out on comics long long time ago. Hated the fact that this "insert hero" was here & here & here & here & here etc etc. Practically every title I bought had the same people in it even "guest stars" AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Really the only one I'll read now is Bone, & I need to snag the last 3 graphic novels to catch up on those.

Funny with all the hoopla of special covers, outrageous but fantastic artwork & such I stuck with a simple black & white comic.

Very odd.....

I would love to get back into comic books, but my problem is two fold...I cant stand jumping into in the middle of a story line, I dont know what ones are good any more, and I dont have the money to spend on them (wishes for they days when they were a dollar)....i guess that is three fold...whatever ::P:

I stopped reading back in the mid 90's with the proliferation of the "collectible" covers and insane crossover storylines that required you to purchase 47 titles to get the damned story. Not to mention all of a sudden there were about 50 bazillion X-titles. The artwork and stories at that time were also starting to go down the crapper, and the prices for them were also going up through the roof. I just decided o walk away before I got so jaded I couldn't even look back at my old titles with nostalgia.

I don't think things are quite that bad anymore. I think the comics industry found out the hard way what happens to your customer base when you keep pushing the "collectability" of comics and, like you, they walk away. Any of the crossovers I've seen in the past few years that I can think of have been self-contained enough in each storyline that there is no reason that you have to collect the other titles to get the full story...

There's some really solid titles out there now - I'm not a Superhero fan, I don't read Superhero comics but the already mentioned Conan is excellent and it's only up to issue 9, so back issues shouldn't be too hard to find and not too expensive to catch up on.

I'm also a fan of Garth (War Stories) Ennis and he has the 1st issue of his new title, '303' out. It's a modern-era story; the '303' of the title being a Lee Enfield rifle which is in the hands of a Russian sergean, leading a small ops group in Afghanistan, trying to retrieve a crashed satellite. So far they've met an SAS teamon the same mission and no doubt there'll be a Seal/Marine squad around.

And, if they ever get another issue out, there's The Red Star. Old-style Soviet Union, with magic and spaceships. Great artwork - computer generated but with real soul. Some great tech stuff - the red Star Sourcebook for D20 modern's just come out.

Plenty of good titles around - I always make a point of asking the comic specialist at my FLGS, Matt. He knows what I like and pointed me toward '.303'.

I am not a regular comic buyer but I did buy that Conan comic. Very well done and entertaining I thought. I wish comics were cheaper (I remember when you could buy them for 35 cents) becasue there are a lot of fantasy based ones I would not mind reading.

I loved HotHead Paisan and a bunch of others.

The original Tank Girl who had romantic relationships with human beings, not Kangaroo-crossed Slashers.

In the 70s & 80s I collected xmen & TMNT (I had the original #1 which my mom threw out with most of my collection when I left it at home while going to college. Grrrr!!!)

There were a few good Wonder Woman issues, but i hardly got any DC.

Now I buy only occasionally & only what my friend Debbie tells me to.

Bone is included in that, of course!! Not to mention Strangers in Paradise - one of the best comix ever.

I was digging through and old box of comic books not long ago and discovered that I have two issues of Spawn #1. Both are in Mint condition. I wonder how much those go for?

I used to have a huge collection of comics but lost them all as a kid. When I got older I started collecting Spiderman and spent alot of money on back issues and rthen they screwed the story line by making the Peter parker I had been reading about for the last 100 issues a clone. I was totally disgusted and stopped buying comics after that.
