Lord Baasen
How are the Skeletal Archers working for you guys? I've fielded a number of them and they haven't done too good. Of course I'm fielding them against the nicely armoured and shielded Crusaders, so maybe that's the problem.
Reaperbryan
IMHO Archers work best by putting 2-3 in each troop, getting you the ability to pega target midel EVERY time you activate a troop. Having 1 troop of dedicated archers is useful for volley, but makes them a nice target for a fireball/storm
Lord Baasen
Yeah, you have a point there. Maybe I'll swop the 5 Archers out for 2 Archers w/ Lesser Accuracy Upgrade. Skeletal Archers lack Marksman so Volley is risky for the Necropolis. I'll try the Archer Swop out this Friday and see how it goes.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted November 23, 2004 Moderator Share Posted November 23, 2004 Skeletal archers I find are quite vital for the Necropolis. Anything that can take Gerard down a track or two so that Nivar can finish him off can only be a good thing. You only have to shoot him 10 times to do a point, all things being equal. Terminalcase
I have had some amazing luck with my skeleton archers, not only have they paid for themselves with shooting things but have also taken enemies out in close combat, all be it I lost the games I have played still but the archers more than made up for themselves. They are the average of the archers and they are fearless as per the undead rule. *big cheesy grin* Not that it is that big a deal. I am having difficulty winning but I do believe it is because I do not try to scare things per the fear or scare spells but I find that wizards are too squishy to be of practical use. but the same can be said of most things. Lord Baasen
I re-tooled the archers (how many and where) plus modified exactly which models go with what best, so I'll play afew games this weekend and give a response.
Terminalcase
Question about Gauntfield.... Has anyone used him and is he worth using? I see he has a very high MAV but his defense is low and he has very few attacks (1). I was wanting to know how well he worked for people who have used him and how he would be used effectively. Castlebuilder
Terminal Case, In the dungeon crawls at GenCon, Gauntfield was in most of the games. If used correctly, he can land a couple devastating blows against another hero or warlord. If you leave him open to archery or mob attacks though, his weakness shows up quickly. I just ordered the mini and plan on including him in my Necro army. I recommend him, just be careful how you deploy him. Terminalcase
reason I asked is because I just picked up Gauntfield. I also picked up alot of other things, mainly more archers, two crypt bats, one each of azarphan and athak. I want more leaders for when I don't want to field the big guy. I like using the smaller leaders, they are fun. I have as of now: Judas Bloodspire, Elsabeth Briarkiss, 2 Azarphan, 2 Athak crimson knight, 1 Eikar the lord of the crypt bats. so I have all the leaders Naomi, malek, Nivar, Gauntfield, Syphrilla for my elites so all of them too at least one of each. 12 warriors, 12 archers, 8 breakers, 2 crypt bats, 3 wraiths. I need more of all of these. 2 banshees, and 1 gargoyle. Yeah I have alot of stuff or at least I think I do. any suggestions on what else I should get besides a brush and some paint to finish painting them.? Lord Baasen
Nope, looks like you have all the models needed. Go Paint!
Lord Baasen
So the Necropolis have Access to the Mage Spell Scare and the Faction has Fear of Undeath. Does this mean two Maleks in the same troop can cause a 2" radius of enemy troops to bugger off? Now that's Scary!!!
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted November 29, 2004 Moderator Share Posted November 29, 2004 Assuming that 2" of enemy troops are still in that 2" formation the next turn, yes. Remember, all spells go off sumultaneously.
Lord Baasen
HAH! Even Better! Two Maleks in seperate Troops! errrr....that still leaves it a bit up to chance. Cute Idea Though.
Caden
Welcome, I am Caden, Vampire knight, leader of The Knights Of Ravenholm, and lastly supporter of the Necropolis. It seems that the fools of Taltos are grouping together to devise strategies againts us. So I decided to lend my help to lord Bloodspire. Post strategies, warplans, and troop ideas here.My the Necropolis succeed in there battles, and all others die and be risen by our hands
