What is you use a WW 1 Tank stragity [sp], get 2 treebeards, line warriors up behind them and give the treebeards a few bandages. once your in charge range, split the trees and charge the warriors forward.

Of course this would be a bad tactic vs a mage with a fire storm, so avoid level 3 mages.

Can't being 2 trees, he's a unique and even if you could at 250pts each it would be half your force in those models alone.

you've given me something to think about Good Storminator, what have you done with Evil Storminator. ::P:

It's what happens when the Evil Overlords start becoming Freelance Neutral/Evil forces. :poke:

Evil diluting... washing away... feeling weak...

I believe he's non-unique in an all elf force.

That's still way too many points.

Say it isnt so Storminator! I am picking my faction (Hence my Browsing the Elf forum...) and I was leaning towards Overloards based in part to allot of your posts! Please say there is an evil kernal still beating in that black heart of yours somewhere.

Well the "Mercenary" faction mostly consists of Overlords, Necros, and Darkspawn, so I don't think there's anything to fear there!

THe core of my army is likely to always be Overlords. I have a ton of them painted up purdy, and I really like the stats for the models. There isn't one I dislike, as a matter of fact. I mostly needed some cavalry, and the Necros and Gobbos have some.

PS

Oh, yeah, and some longer range archers coming soon...

What's this I see?

44 Overlord armies? Passing Nefsokar into 7th place? THe Reven are in our sights! Can the Reptus be far behind?!?

PS

Alright, end of thread hijacking...

Don't put so much equipment on Arnise, she's too fragile to be worth it. Maybe throw a few longthorns into each troop, they're very good musicians/standards since they're generally just outside the melee.

I would drop the Totem and go with more warriors and archers

Also trade Lysette's GMempowerment for a familiar the points you save can go to fielding more warriors.

The reasoning behind the GME is that we have a nefsokar player and with their -2CP for enemy spellcasters I thought it prudent to keep her at a 7 instead of dropping down to a 5.

The Totem I can live without, it's a list in progress....

Oh, those nasty nerfherder... I've yet to face them. At any rate I'd focus on capitializing on the elves' strenght (Range and Speed).

I'd hang on to the GME in any case. Some archers would probably help, and the battle totem is the first thing to drop if you're going to do that. Still, an all-melee force is interesting, though I doubt it would work well, if you took enough healing, it might be manageable...

i see the point in dropping the totem...take more warriors/archers....

i've fielded a force similar to this twice now, both against an untried all-goblin force (won both) on 4x4 tables. with tables this size you can only get off one volley before their fast movers (beast riders) are too close for comfort. the tactic is to get off the first volley, hopefully taking out some troops/wounding a leader, and then throw up picket lines/speed bumps between the approaching army and the archers.

the archers are still capable of shooting into melee and hopefully filling those who do get through with lots of arrows.

Speedbumps+sniping is one of the typical elven strategies. With some more archers, this would work very well with that strategy. The centaurs can cut off anything that's moving a little too fast, and the deathseekers can probably take out a few enemies on their own, especially with support.
