All-Terrain Monkey
It was only a few points if I recall correctly; just one of the units we noticed was mispointed and adjusted accordingly.
Saint of Sinners
three points actually they are now 19 pts. the dwarven halberdiers are 18 pts the elves are faster true but the dwarves have better armor... oh wait higher DIS on the elves... ok... I'll just go back to making elf jokes and being annoying
lordoftheleaves
Hey, I'm going to be going up against the Wretched Darkspawn in a week. Any suggestions on tactics and such would be much obliged! Stay vigilant brothers!
Saint of Sinners
My advise bring yer own party favors... unless yer in to whips, chains, and weird tenticale lovin'. The Darkspawn are a heavy magic faction... I'd suggest taking Lysette and give her accouple dispels. Also troop standards may be useful against their numerous horrid models. You may also want to field a one eyed purple people eater.
Yukimura
I dunno about you, but i like going Ranged Heavy - As many Vale Archers as you can realistically field, Lysette with Fireballs, Bolts, Shards, etc, Niriodel, Caerwynn (always a must, Especially if you can afford a Greater Acc upgrade with her!), and "Selwynn" Vale Captains for your leader models, because she's got a so-so RAV. Yes this is pricey, but its nice. However the Darkspawn dont have very high DV's - so shoot away! as many arrows together as possible.
spiritual_exorcist
Vale Archers as you can realistically field With Vale Archers now being Adepts going range heavy isn't a real option except in ta small game, at best you can get Selwyn + an Elite + 9 Vale Archers. Unless the game is pretty large (1500+) leave Caerwynn at home in my opinion, she is just too many points for such a fragile model in a small game. I'd look at Meridh + 9 Vale Archers, Selwyn + Ardynn or Lysette + Vale Warriors as a solid foundation. If you're playing a larger game add a second melee unit, either one to run more interference for your archers (in that case take more Warriors), or one that can be used more directly (in which case I'd add Deathseekers). After that I'd seriously consider bringign along a Solo or two (Everyone raves aboutt he Centaur, and he is pretty great, but I've recently taken a fancy to the Giant Eagle, he seems like a real bargain to me). Yukimura
Actually, i think the Centaur is butt - he's cheap, but thats it. i agree that the Giant Eagle is a better choice. Honestly you cant have mutiple troops of Vale Archers running around, but thats fine - you only need one. Ardynn and Lysette can be configured for ranged - i consider spells ranged attacks. You wont have many models, but you can have a force that is primarily ranged.
Saint of Sinners
Actually, i think the Centaur is butt - he's cheap, but thats it. i agree that the Giant Eagle is a better choice. mov of 11 (plus ranger) and a range of 24" all for the low price of 58 pts. is "butt"? All-Terrain Monkey
Ah, he's not a poser; he probably just hasn't tried them out. I love Giant Eagles too (hm, wonder why) but Centaurs are really great for the points. With Ranger and their movement distance it'd have to be a very large board for them not to be lined up for a juicy shot on turn one. Just the threat of a fast mover on the field will change the deployment of your opponent, and any time you can make them play the game to your tune the better. And, don't forget, you can upgrade the Centaur with some really fun stuff .
Yukimura
mov of 11 (plus ranger) and a range of 24" all for the low price of 58 pts. is "butt"? ...And a MAV\RAV both of 2. and because its a Solo you cant attach items to make that any better. the fool cant hit the broadside of a barn! make note the average DV's of the people i play against is 11, which means ive got a slim chance of hitting them. Centaur = BUTT GE school this elf poser One word for you. Newbie (dont insult me because im ignorant ) EDIT And, don't forget, you can upgrade the Centaur with some really fun stuff You cant put items on Solo's my first game i had a Centaur with a Greater Acc Upgrade, and Ugluk read out of the rulebook that you cant put items on Solo's - right in the middle of the game and my Centaur gets nerfed. (Giant Eagle - 2 attacks at MAV of 5, DV of 10, a Flyer, and its 135 pts. Eagles = goodness)

All-Terrain Monkey
I just scanned the rulebook, and the only time it says you can't upgrade something is if it's a Beast. Where did you see it in the rulebook that it says that? And relax, Saint of Sinners was just messing with you; he knows I like to show my fellow elves a different way of thinking.
