Yukimura
All is happy for the Overlords. However, some unnamed fiend takes a year of pure and absolute patience to queitly flood the canals and sewers underneath Craclaw with lamp oil and hard liqour, as well as gaseline and kegs of gunpowder (bartered for from Razig, with stolen jewels from a few Khamsin tombs and nomads). after one years hard work - this crazy fiend, who is actually a young elven man, a survivor from the now desolate ruins of Almirithil (which probably became disputed territory between the Overlords and the forces of Orba Sinhain), sighs in a job well done. He smiles as he remembers fondly his kin, all now dead or slaves. he fights back tears knowing that the war against the darkness of Thule is now over and will never be taken up again. all for the greed of evil. and with that thought, his burning rage and passion for revenge is renewed Then he ventures into the canals one last time - and lights a match. ~Fin~
matsumoto
being an Overlord player now, i must smack the face of Warlord James with an iron gauntlet. "is it not enough that we kill all who stand before us?" "is it not enought that we take their women in rape, and their children slaves, and burn their homes and lives to the ground?" "is it not enough that we kill relentlessly and show no mercy even to mewling babes?" "brothers in arms, we are evil, and thusly so we must show respect to those we are about to defile, desecrate, and generally empty our bladders upon. if you are about to rape and pillage, at least show dignity and courtesy beforehand...we are not children, so curb your nanny-bragging tounge, and grow the testes a man needs to battle! get off the playground and continue your training!" "afterall, In Hell, demons eat the foolish, but drink with Black-Soul Princes..." a Wise Warlord speaks with his sword, not like a child bully! Salutations, Yukimura, for your coming destruction in Craclaw. Khardullis himself commands it, and justice be it is by your flint. the people of Craclaw will flee to Malvernis, a new rich home where faith awaits them, and they will live there in good working spirits and in the strong arms of the malvernan people and their all powerful One God. They will live among those who have come to see the power and will of Khardullis, elves, men, and all kinds alike...will live in grateful servitude to The Black Name.... and in the high towers of the inquisitiors, i shall one day lay with elven beauties and denelspire sisters, and reap the reward of my dark faith in the bounty of their flesh.... BWAHAHAHAHA!!! but until then ...*bows* ...with dignity and honor, i shall carve thee....

matsumoto
sorry!!! just culling the herd....bloody Overlords dunno when they've overstayed their welcome... Primary Elven tactic base: be fluid, be aware, be brave. ...and learn to love your melee guys. all archery can be a crutch
Yukimura
Thanks Herr Frogenmeister Anyway... Primary Elven tactic base: be fluid, be aware, be brave. ...and learn to love your melee guys. all archery can be a crutch Hah! Ill see about using good Melee Guys, but im swearing off Vale Warriors completely - honestly, id rather field the same number of Breakers for just three points more each - thats a +2 MAV over them as well. Also, i gotta start using Deathseekers, proxy or otherwise. However, the Elves cannot compete toe to toe for Melee with any army im fighting now - whether that be Reven, Overlords, Nefsokar, or Crusaders. its just not going to happen. best thing i can hope for is having all parts of my army work together. Primary Elven Tactic Base - Be Fast, Stick Together, Keep it Cool And for Gods Sakes...have fun!
All-Terrain Monkey
However, the Elves cannot compete toe to toe for Melee with any army im fighting now - whether that be Reven, Overlords, Nefsokar, or Crusaders. Have you ever tried taking a melee Elven force on the field? Most of the melee units are only two or three points more expensive than skeletons; with lots of numbers and sound mob tactics you can really clean up with them in melee. Chrome
I like mixing a few Deathseekers in with my Vale Warriors. Use the Warriors to tie a couple models up, then move the Deathseekers into their rear once they can't get the defensive facing. Voila, you've got 2 strikes at at least +5. All-Terrain Monkey
Since it's only a 1DV difference I normally don't hold back from sending in my screaming lunatics to do some melee damage. That, and I try to take as many of them as I can in a game, since if you can insure you get the initial attack with them they pay for themselves insanely fast. Tsetsen Muur
I believe Chrome's intention was to prevent the enemy from attacking the deathseekers by engaging on multple facings. I'd have to reread the rules on defensive rotations to make sure this works. This would be a way of preserving your 33 point lunatics at large by losing your longsword leveraging legions Sorry - got in a car accident, today. All-Terrain Monkey
Sorry to hear about the accident Tsetsen! And I know what Chrome was saying, and I fullheartedly agree that anything you can do to keep your high cost models alive is a wise thing to do. I'm just saying I normally don't do it . I don't wanna take all the fun outta being a homicidal half-elf.

Page 61 in 2nd Printing Core Rule Book (paraphrased): First attacker moving into b2b contact is a free facing turn. 2nd attacker moving into b2b contact is a free facing turn. Third defender moving into b2b prevents a facing turn. Totally legit tactic and one I like to use myself. Exception - Attacking model has SA: Rogue or SA: Assassin which prevents the defender adjust. Defender cannot break any existing base to base contacts with their defensive adjustment. This is also why they are currently looking at the Defender Adjusts for Cavalry bases because of their shape.
