Actions with mixed troops..

if the grunts move and then charge.. why is there a defensive strike?

"Charge" isn't a movement action - it's a bonus distance you add to your movement action.

i know but thats how its described in the original post...

that and thanks to gw any move into base to base contact is considered a "charge" in my mind... ::P:

Yeppers. Just noting that "move then charge" is a single action, not two.

 

This is why I refer to the whole "end up base-to-base" process as "engaging".

oh ok i see what youre saying... i interpretted it as the grunts moving with one action and then moving with their second action and using the charge bonus..

perhaps the original poster can clarify? ^_^

Sorry for being unclear... In the scenario I described, I meant that first the fighters charged, and then they made their attack.

 

I said "moved then charged" because in our games, when someone wants to charge, first the models move their base movement and then we see if they have a straight line within the charge bonus to hit an enemy, especially when there's enough distance to make it uncertain. It's all still one move. Since the charge has to be in a straight line and the regular move doesn't, I think of them as two half-actions ;)
