Qwyksilver
Hey folks, just wanted to let you know that I just got my grubby, ink stained hands on the new Conan Anthology by Robert E. Howard. Like the other one, The COming of Conan the Cimmerian, it looks like it was printed elsewhere initially in 2003. First US edition is December 2004. It contains 2 novellas and a full length novel, although I never thought 170 pages was enough to be considered a novel. The other stories are about 80 pages each. Looks like a 3rd volume is due out The Conquering Sword of Conan. Given the time between the last ones, probably December 2005. There is also listed an anthology of the Bran Mak Morn stories due out - Bran Mak Morn: The Last King. Given that it seems to be alternating between Conan and other characters, my guess is maybe the Bran Mak Morn will come out in July 2005 like the Solomon Kane book did between the two Conan anthologies. Decado
I saw it a t Waldenbooks the other day but the wife would not let me buy it as we were Xmas shopping. I am planning on ordering it ASAP from the SFBC. I also saw the Solomon Kane anthology at Waldenbooks, which I am going to buy ASAP. Bill_Adcock
I asked for it for Christmas. And, doing some snooping...I know for a fact I'm getting it (Oh, I am soooo on the naughty list.)
Qwyksilver
I don't even bother putting books on my Xmas lists anymore. No one in my family understands the stuff I like, and can't comprehend why a series should ALWAYS be bought in the same binding style, or why buying books 2 and 3 in a series, but not getting 1 is not very helpful. Plus, when I see a book I have been waiting for, I just buy it. I usually just get Borders Gift Cards. It's easier that way to make sure I don't buy and read something already on my list. Or more often what has happened. Well, we couldn't find the books you wanted, but they had some other ones by the same author. Or even more deadly...we asked the people at the store. <shudder> @Bill - Truer words were never said -> "Dear Santa, I can explain..." lionmane
I got my copy last weekend. I think the previous publication was probably the hardback (i.e. mondo-expensive) version. I think the illustration at the end of "Hour of the Dragon" will be my next tattoo.
Qwyksilver
That would be some nice ink. You must post pics if you get it.
Steven Page
Picked up my copy last night. Again beautifully illustrated by Gianni. Hopefully, if the patern continues, we'll have the Adventures of Bran Makk Morn in about six months.
primeval
Picked up my copy last night. Again beautifully illustrated by Gianni. Hopefully, if the patern continues, we'll have the Adventures of Bran Makk Morn in about six months. I have the deluxe hardcover of the Bran Mak Morn book - just a beautiful book, great art, and of course any excuse to re-read "Worms of the Earth" is great! The edition I have also came with a CD containing a reading of that story. The Conan books I have the softcover versions - I kind of prefer the black and white art anyway. Also, next year will see the release of the Kull book, with art by Justin Sweet! Can't wait for that one! EDIT: By the way, these books are all being initially produced by Wandering Star as hardcovers, with color plates and some extra features (art) in deluxe editions. The paperback version are the same textually, just with all b&w art. Nice thing is, these are the original versions as written by REH himself, no tampering by clueless, egomaniacal editors (names not mentioned to avoid getting myself into a rant, but anyone who has Conan utter the word "forsooth' should be beheaded......) http://www.wanderingstarbooks.com/
