mgmaranda
Most forms of asbestos won't harm you long term anyway. The white asbestos which is what is primariyl used in homes and buildings is relatively safe, when compared to othere building products that create dust and debris. The strucutre of the smallest portions of this material are generally straight and will pass through you. The black (or grey can't remember the color) is the dangerous stuff. it is primarily found in mines and occasionally mixed in small amounts with with other asbestos. The structure of this rock when particlized is spiraled and will stik with you for a very long time.
Spike
Asbestos isn't that dangerous... they removed the stuff from my highschool without cancelling class at all (It was used in the ceiling tiles) As for wacky home-improvement tales, when my parents remodelled their house seven years ago, they removed a 20' span of wall that had once seperated livingroom and diningroom. INside the wall-cavity, the workmen found a very crusty empty 10oz Coca-Cola bottle that had been entombed by the original builders way back in 1969. (I am only thankful it was a pop-bottle and not (what Unglef refers to as) a "spitter". Good luck with your li'l disaster-area Tommy. Froy The Orc
I did interior remodeling for a living. We never worried about it at all. We did tons of older buildings that I am sure were not all asbestos free.Oh well, to each there own. Hope the cough lets up soon.
coogle
Heh, still there, but could have just been general dust. Yeah, I know it's relatively safe, especially if undisturbed, but I was drilling and hacking and various other things. Ah well guy's coming in on Friday to rip the lot out. Then comes the fun job of replastering the walls
