skya
Finally got the chance and took the timje to paint one of these. Experimented with a new technique for skintones in the process and am quite pleased with the result. I love the wings on this one but there's something about the shape of the body that just doesnt feel quite right. Especially comparing it to Talon's drawings. FuzzyIzmit
I wish I had this mini, she is absolutly beautiful....both the sculpt and the paint job. I like the skintone, it reminds me of an oil painting or something. You reds are very well done, as well as the base...I just like the whole thing! Wonderful job! Kurgan the Lurker
Wings maybe to straight in comparison to the curve of the torso? Is that what you are thinking by something about the shape of the body that just doesnt feel quite right. Skin and reds are great but I particularly like the wings. It's somethign I've found in a lot of Gael's work so I think it's probably more of a style issue.

eastman
Experimented with a new technique for skintones in the process and am quite pleased with the result. What was the new technique for the skin? (or is it top-secret? ) Great red-fu, skin-fu and wing-fu on this awesome paint job
skya
Skin-Fu: Took a page from VikingLodge I think it was, and tried adding greys into the shadows. Basecoated her Vallejo Dark Bluegrey and mixed that into whatever rosey GW skintone it is that I'm using. Worked from there to a slightly yellower lighter tone (think its elfflesh but I forgot to label them when I transfered them into dropper bottles) and from there up to white. It also used to be I'd do almost entirely wet blending but for this I did a lot more in the way of glazing than I have previously. The glazes worked well for control and the greys seem to have given it a much more classical painterly feel with which I'm very happy. tjb
where can i get one....any left overs?
Spartan6
where can i get one....any left overs? It was a limited edition miniature for ReaperCon attendee's last year. They're rare as hens teeth but if you make enough noise you might be able to scare one up. In fact I know a guy who would be willing to part with his for around $50. There was some noise and threats of lynching in regards to anyone caught selling one though.
eastman
where can i get one....any left overs? The RC Sophie has twice appeared on ebay, but she is definitely not a common or inexpensive mini.
paintminion
Skya, some great pictures of her. Change your background to some paper instead of the cloth, though. I can also say that although I wasn't sure of the skintones in-person, on the pictures she has a great evil glow effect to her skin. The pics don't do the wings justice though...only thing that doesn't show up well!
