Well, that's the main difficulty here, how to make an army with generic cards that you can play without the accusations of cheese.

"Oh yeah, too good for the standard armies are you?  Gotta make your own cheesy stuff 'cause you can't figure out how to win using a real army?"  <-- that's the sort of thing I personally want to avoid.  Unfortunately the only way to avoid that is to make an army that has no strengths, and that's not an acceptable way out either.

Well, Froggy, having actually played against LP, I'm not sure the Cheese factor would be that much of a help.... ::P:

I was concerned about balance with an army that is completely generated by the player, but I suppose we'll figure it out when we all have a chance to play.

As for characters for the army, I think it would be cool to have some of the mythical figures attributed to the Unselie Cout in the game. For instance, a Red Cap.

Red Caps are nasty little pixies that attack lonesome travelers. They get their name from the habbit of dying their caps with the blood of their victims.

These guys could be the rouges of the faction; give them a 12 inch ranged attack and Critical Shot. They'd also have the Small ability, making it easier for them to make use of cover.

I just thought of something. This faction absolutely must have Banshees. The name comes from old Galic - "Ban" meaning Woman and "Sidhe" (pronounced "shee") meaning elf or fairy.

Haha! You got me there! :;):

And, I've already had the Red Cap covered, though I used the Scottish tale where Redcap was only ONE guy, and a nasty bloke he was.

Awesome! See you First Friday at Sanctuary, then? You know we will be working on a League at War Dogs after the Holidays. Chitter is supposed to be getting a tournament together for Jan. 15. I was going to run, but decided I'd rather play. We have one player who keeps winning the tournaments - time someone showed him the meaning of "humility".

And here I was thinking I was up to the competative par with you folks. Thanks for making me feel so amateurish. ::P::poke:

Anyway, Get ahold of wolfie and the others. I'm buying pizza. I want you guys to help me pick this army apart. I want you guys to play it, as well as play against it.

I've got all next week off!

The problem with a bean-sidhe is that the Necropolis already has banshees.

That and we didn't think about them when we were making the headcount. I think the general form of the datacards is firm, and I'm pretty sure the units list is what will be the final form. LP was very much trying to get the feel of an unseelie court, but not specifically take proper names directly from mythology.

Mel - Did you have any specific concerns we can address, or is it just a general feeling based on a player-created army?

Yeah. What I wanted to do was create an unseelie fae that was unique to Taltos, not the real world. While I certainly based it on traditional Franco-Germanic, as well as Scot and Irish legends, I wanted to give something... more to the Warlord world. I change here, a make-up job there...

I think we came up with something good.

Long live Princess Roseblade. ::P:

Man! You realize I will have to pick up a Warlord book now, because if you want to make an Unseelie court there should be a Seelie court! And since I like things Fey I kind of would like to get in on this! ::P: I gues I will have to see what funds I can get together, maybe working those extra hours on X-mas night will pay off after all!

As someone else pointed out, Reven and Reptus both have trolls, so why couldn't the Moon Scar have Banshees?

My main concern was that a player-generated army would be unbalanced (I mean that in play terms, not regarding the relitive sanity of the characters, as per the fluff). But having seen my son play against LP, I can't say the group is overpowered as it now exsists.

Cedric (AKA Sivrel) is a much better player than his ranking might indicate. The biggest problem for him is that he really needs to get more play time under his belt; I'm sure his ranking on Warlord HQ would rise nicely after a few more games.
