FPilot
That is the Russian A90 Orlenok Ekranoplan (Wingship), which is available as a scale model in 1/144th scale--and a game store where I do business has enough of them for a while--unless I decide that my CAV unit should become an Airborne Brigade. The real thing's size is between a Boeing 777 and a 747, and the bow swings to starboard for a dropdown loading ramp.
Spartan6
I remember seeing this once before. It's not an actual airplane but a ground-effect vehicle. I think the Soviets thought it up to invade across the North Pole.
FPilot
By my estimation, one of those would carry: One CAV, or Three or four Tanks, depending on size, or Fifty Mechanized Infantry troops along with their vehicles. Its top speed is 250 MPH. The model is about 7 1/2" long with a wingspan of about half that. There are two bigger versions, the Lun (a guided missile carrier) and the KM (prototype, which was perhaps the heaviest flying machine ever at 540 tons). Erion
Man, those Crazy Soviets sure did dig big planes.
FPilot
And the above plane is the all-time champ heavyweight of the air: the Antonov An-225 Mryia (Cossack). Just the thing for delivering a couple CAVs whereever. Maximum take-off mass: 600 tons.
