Stern Kestrelmann
Hey all! Picked this model up on a whim Saturday and finished it blister to dullcote in one sitting! That is remarkable for me... Anyway, added the cow for effect. Turned out to be a neat little dio. Poor Bessy. Also, this is the first real try with my new master paints. I'm really struggling as they are very different from anything I've ever used. Trying a new back ground for 2005 as well. SK
mrbuddylee
You know, I feel a bit sorry for the cow. Where's our dire cow to fight the eagle infestation. Anyways, looks good, I'm wondering what kind of problems you had with the paints though, all looks great to me!
Stern Kestrelmann
Here's one more shot and I pasted a close-up in the corner as well... Enjoy. SK

Stern Kestrelmann
Anyways, looks good, I'm wondering what kind of problems you had with the paints though, all looks great to me! Thanks MBL. Well, it's not the paints. It's really me adjusting to them. They are different, very smooth almost gel like. They also have kind of a satin finish to them, which I am not used to. I don't really know the colors. Moreover, I don't know mixing ratios or color combos yet. So, it's more me being out of my comfort zone. Still, I had a lot of fun painting this eagle. :0)
It's rather sad how few replies GW models get. It's like quiet discrimination. :( I love the model. It's really subdued and natural like Jakob Nielsen's wood elves. The claws are the best part of the mini in my mind. I could never paint those well. Great job! Stern Kestrelmann
I know what you mean, but Kit has always been suportive of us posting models from other manufacturers, even GW! To be honest, I stood in my FLGS and held the GW War Eagle and the WL Gant Eagle in my hands trying to decide on which to buy. First off, this model was 15$ and the WL Eagle was 25$. Although the WL eagle was much bigger, the model's head and claws appeared too small. So, I went with the GW eagle. I am partial to Reaper models, but GW does make a few really nice figures. BTW- The cow is from the railroad section of my FLGS. It's HO scale and makes the eagle seem even larger. SK
vejlin
Looks really good. I like the effect the cow gives. You should also paint the cow.
