I've only played 1000-point games so far, but I don't think 2000-pointers would be too much trouble. There's lots more room to bring the Big Expensive Stuff, like catapults or multiple big solos, so you may not have as many units on the board as you'd think (unless you're playing Reven or Necropolis, that is...)

Also, big fighters will tend to go down quicker, since you can get more hordes to swamp them with.

in Nov we played a 4000 point per side Elves vs. Crusaders game. It took a couple of hours and was allot of fun...sadly not so much for my Crusaders themselfs but for me it was allot of fun.

a good rule of thumb is scale the game based on your skill level.

The only problem I had on big games is forgetting to move a model when I activate his troop - with all the intermixing, I sometimes overlook a couple. This is a player problem rather than a mechanics problem; troop segregation (not intermixing the models from different troops) or specialty (not mixing as many data cards withing each troop) streamlines is just fine.

Additionally, a 2K game usually isn't twice as big as a 1K game as far as playability goes - many people tend to field the more expensive stuff or use upgrades, so the model count doesn't seem to go up as fast as the point count does until you get near the 3K range.

A friend of mine and I are playing "Dragon Princes" this weekend. Each side uses a Dragon as their Warlord. For purposes of the scenario, the Dragon is considered "in faction" and does not negate faction abilities. One may use what would otherwise be a Warlord, but he or she is demoted to Captain status, although all other stats remain the same.

This will be a 3,000 point battle - I'll let you guys know how it turns out. My opponent seems to be under the impression that if he has something big enough and nasty enough, he can beat me (as if...)

I might ask him if he'd like to go for 3,500, since that would give us some points for something else besides the dragons...

The largest battle I have done was three armies, each with 4000 points. This was basically what Ceridwyn is talking about, 3 armies, each with a Dragon as the Warlord figure. This took about 5 hours. to play, partially because of the size of the table and inexperienced players.

This weekend at a Convention I have an event set up to run 6 hours, with 3 teams of 2500 points each, 9 players max. The number of players and their experience level is a big factor in how well the game runs and how long it takes. I can tell you this though, I have yet to play a game where the point values got too big for the system, or the game bogged down due to reason other than the players.
