Qwyksilver
thanks! As for thining my paints, well I don't have anything special, just a little water is all. I know there are better ways to do it, I just haven't learn'd them or figured out something I like! Ummm don't fix what's clearly not even remotely broken... Okay...GUNK is also going the route of the brushes and pewter. The Fallen, nephew hasn't claimed that yet...
EricJ
Thank you again for the warm welcome over here everyone. And about paint thinning...I do of course have troubles using just water, although I'm stubborn and find my own ways to compensate. It's been a goal of mine to find something better to thin paints, its on the to do list, although my free time seems to go to painting instead of researching and trying products. A big reason I'm still stuck with just water is that I really haven't been painting that long, at least not seriously that is. I started about 5 years ago, just to put color on a 40k army and simply drybrushed everything until about August of '04, so about 5 months ago when I decided to try blending, and the rest...is history! Now I hardly ever play, addicted to the paints! -Eric
Qwyksilver
Welcome Eric. Think of us as a support group for your new addiction
deflagratio
What kind of support are you talking about. Most support groups I know try to stop the addiction. This is more of like the bad group of kids your mom never wanted you to play with. We only feed the beast.
EricJ
Yeah, ummmm, I'm not sure the support group is working, the feedback is only making me want to paint more!
Astonia
Uh-huh, I know what you're saying! Once you try the blending you're hooked! And now I'm moving deeper into the addiction with wet-blending, feathering, rusty nmm and what not...I still have to try the reflection thing, but you just wait 'til october :D
Qwyksilver
You missed the small print I see...I will blow up that portion. Support (your addiction) group Always read the fine print
mrbuddylee
I'm very impressed, looks great. A friend mentioned that this picture would be a great cover for a 80's hair band. ::)
EricJ
Hey everyone again, I got a few messages about seeing her other side, and a close up of the base, so I took a couple more photos and made another post over on cmon. Unfortunately the file size is over 150k so I can't post it here (I read the rules!) but if you'd like to take a look it's here: Dark Maiden multiple views Thanks again for the great feedback everyone! -Eric
Cade
That is just fantastic. That base is spectacular and the mini is amazing as well. Hope to see more of your work in the Show Off Section here on the Reaper Forums sometime.

Crusoe the Painter
Well, I just wanted to add something about thinning and wash mediums, etc.... I've switched to Reaper MSPs, and they make blending via layering a utter snap. I thin with either water, or a lil bit of 1:4 future:water. Nothing else. These paints are awesome. I'm currently doing a piece for the unofficial Speed Painting competition, and they've been a joy to work with. I find I paint faster, and cleaner, as I don't have to fight the paints so much (well, except for Marigold, but I can make that color out of others ). They REALLY are faboo! That, and the triads make shading a snap. Less intermixing to get custom colors, yet enough variety to make quick shading of a fig a snap... Oh, and UTTERLY FANTASTIC fig by the way. :)
