Black Lightning

I'm interesting in becoming a Black Lightning member person thingy, but I really only want to demo Warlord. CAV looks cool and all, and I have some figs, but I don't really have that large a budget, you know?

Also, as I understand, I have to demo at Cons? That'll be a difficulty since my first child is on the way (and once again, I don't have a big ol' barrel of money to spend on trips and such).

Demoing only one game is just fine. Lot's of the new guys only demo Warlord. :poke: In fact, you could join BL and never demo a game at all b/c you could do painting events like Speed Painting tournaments and Paint and Takes.

Nope, that's entirely up to you. What they do ask is that if a convention in your area calls Reaper up asking for them to send someone, that you make a reasonable attempt to do so. They're not going to kick you out though if you can't make it. Your sole responsibility is to average 1 event per month, whether its at a store, a convention or a gaming club doesn't much matter, so long as you stay active.

The actual requirement is 3 events every full quarter, so even if you do have a month or two when you can't do anything (it happens to most of us at least once) you can still catch up by doing multiple events in a later month. Or you can schedule ahead if you know you're going to have a busy month coming up (such as having a newborn ^_^ ). This is where going to cons can be a good thing though, since you can get 2, 3 even 8 events done in a couple of days and be set for your commitment for a while.

So basically, the more you put into Black Lightning, the more you get out of it!

Cons are also good for earning extra BL points, which are used to trade in for product. You mentioned not having a large gaming budget as one of the reasons for not wanting to demo CAV, but that's the beauty of BL: the more you demo, the larger your gaming budget becomes! Every time you do a demo/event/tournamet, you earn points for it, which you turn around and redeem to buy minis (or paint) with. Cons are good for getting points b/c a premium is placed on demoing products in high-traffic situations, such as a convention with 200+ potential customers. ::D:

Umm . . . What they said.

you can check out the details at: www.reapermini.com/bl

We have no problem with demoing just one of Warlod, CAV, or Painting, or any 2, or all 3. As a volunteer organization, we want our demo reps to be compfortable with what they are doing.

You never need to go to a CON if you don't want to. We usually offer to help the top reps for the previous year with their expenses to Origins and gen-Con, bit it isn't compulsory.

*Ring.... Ring..... Ring*

Ed: "Hello?"

BL: "Uh, Hello Mister Pugh, this is one of your BL Reps. Haha, you're going to find this funny but ..."

Ed: "It's 2am"

BL: "Uh, yes sir, that's what our processing papers say."

Ed: "Processing Papers?"

BL: "Um, you know, the papers one fill out just before you get photo-ed and fingerprinted?"

Ed: *groan* -click-

BL: "Hello? Hello? Mister Pugh? Okay we'll call Cher."

I knew I liked you, Tim, a voice of reason.... ::):

and just to be clear: there is no bail in the official BL con budget, you all are on your own.

I do also reference you to the section in the Online handbook where you have agreed to be appropriate and responsible in public as you are representing Reaper....

yes, I know yall are being silly here, but if someone didn't know that, the impression yall have given is that there was a bail incident, which there wasn't. Not the kind of impression I appreciate having out there.

but, yes, you all are *trying* to be funny...
