Which armies are good to demo with?

The first Warlord demo I went to, Steve Page had several 500-point armies players could choose from. The small size made games move very quickly, which is good when people are just trying it out and even better if you have people waiting.

It worked. I really had no intention of playing Warlord and was just stopping by to say hi; by the time I left, I was good and hooked.

Do you ever run multiple player games or just one on one?

Lots of guys like to run the Kill the Dragon *cough*(Rhino)*cough* scenario for demos. All of the players get a small army and the BL plays a dragon. You appropriately weaken or strengthen your dragon so that you give your players a good game, but are guaranteed to lose to their overwhelming numbers. So long as they co-operate together.

Of course once you're dead, they'll most likely end up fighting over who gets the treasure, but that's why its so much fun! :poke:

I have amassed the stereotypical armies to demo with - Crusaders vs. Necropolis. I have the stats handy for 4 different 500 point squads to table or can drop a Mossbeard or Dragon on the table as well. Depends on how many show. Yes, hunt the dragon is fun for all. Come on down to Orlando at the end of this month and we'll show you at Mega-Con.

The best way to go is get 2 armies. Paint them up, and then bring them to your demo. Let the new people use your armies (and tell them to be CAREFUL with your metal minis that you painted with so much awesome effort!) and they will be hooked in 15 minutes or less!

I let this guy named Todd use my Necropolis army in a 4 player game and the guy absolutely went nuts. He even offered to buy my army off of me but I said... "well, you should get some paints and build the army you want." He is now hard at work building up a Merc / Nefsokar force!

I have noticed that you will definitely get some more enthusiasm when you have your army painted up and ready to go. People are like "Wow dude, your (Eikar) Crypt Bat Lord looks SWEEEEEEET!" And then they get that much more psyched to get that fig and make it look cool.

(and don't tell me you have no time to paint up an army. I work 50 hours a week, play in a band 2 nights a week, and I have a GF who demands my presence at least 2 nights a week. I make it happen, so can you!)

Nah, convincing one of them to attack the other armies to defend you is the most fun

Hey, Kaladrax is a Dracolich. You're Necropolis and all about the lich and the undead. We need to work together to wipe the living scum off the map of Taltos first. Then we can see who is the dominate species. ^_^

I'm real lucky on that part... My Girlfriend likes to paint minis, but not playing the games (though I think most of that is due to lack of time on her part since she enjoyed the demo games she played in at Gencon a couple years ago), so I end up with extra stuff to play.

She's painting up Necropolis, and Neksofar troops... And when I was playing warhammer she had Chaos and Brettonians armies, and was starting up a Dark Elf...

It works out great since it gives me more playing options, and if people come over that don't play sometimes I can trap them into playing since the models are sitting around.

I know this may sound a bit stupid, but how do I become a Black Lightning rep. I want to start demoing Warlord here in Las Vegas (I've already got one guy hooked on Dwarves). I went to reapermini.com and followed the Black Lightning link, but I couldn't find anything about how to apply. Maybe I just missed something.

Thanks.

Thank you for asking.

First thing to do is to talk to your local game store owner/manager and share your intentions of becoming a Black Lightning Member. You will need to arrange three initial activities to demonstrate intent before we can accept your application.

Your three activities can be all at the same store or at a variety of locations.

This is the Black Lightning Main Page. From the main page you follow the Handbook Link on the left menu bar. Please read all the sections before applying, but most importantly, The Expectations. At the end of the expectations is the link to the application.

Please follow the directions and fill the application out completely. Failure to be complete is grounds for denial of the application. It usually takes 3-5 business days for us to process the applications. We call to verify the events are scheduled and attempt to connect you to an experienced BL for advice during your initial activities.

Any specific questions, feel free to email us as well.

[email protected], [email protected], or [email protected] will all give you the results and answers you need.

Good Luck,

Ok Looking at the app for BL, I just wanted to clear something up.

3 Demos at stores. Can we do a demo at a con as one of our initial demos?

Seriously thinking about joining because our area needs one....

Hmmmm unless Spartan wants to come to Recruits Con.

Seriously...anyone with in range of Lee's Summit (just a little South East of Kansas City) should come. Its a great little Con put on by the Lee's Summit High School wargaming club (lucky little buggers, wish I had a wargaming club in high school). I know 2 of us will be there for a WWII game and would love to play some smallish games of Warlord (500-750pt).

Boy I sure seem to like the parenthesis today (strange isnt it).
