The soveriegn III and the Cheiftan have ranges of 36 inches while most have 32 or 28. This may be intentional but I thought I'd point it out. On the plus side it looks like quite of the units were tweaked and so far I think most look pretty solid.

First Glance at the new Datacards:

Nitpick: I liked it better when they were organized by faction. Right now I can't find any pattern to the order of the cards

Questions:

-- Chrome already pointed out that overdrive was missing from the '70 Dictator. I'm hoping this will bring its point cost to something more in line with the other 5DT CAV's, because right now it looks really low.

-- Do we have rules text for the Jump Special Ability?

Structure Points: Are we going to see structure values given for the various effects of the nanostone/nanobarrier Gadgets (a term that I love, by the way)?

I can see the optional rules for buildings getting a lot of use during my games.

Just got the email at work this morning. At first glance everything looks good to me, with the exceptions already mentioned of course.

On the Dictator, can we get a balpark as to its points cost with Overdrive? I wanna change my datacard and test it correctly. Hopefully there will be much testing this weekend!

Mad Pat

Now that you mention it. . . ::P:

Is that 15 points for overdrive included on the card's point value and just not listed, or is it missing in both regards?

Light Mortar Team: Has Shredder but no Direct Attacks

Flamethrower Team: Should they have 1 Direct Attack and Flamer/1, or just Flamer/1. It seems to conflict with the fact that most of the infantry have 1 attack they can use, with a special ability to supplement it. Flamer can be used in conjuction with a normal direct attack.

Force Recon Team: Maybe they should have the Light Scout special ability.

Jump Infantry: ::D:

Putting FIST Team and Heavy Engineer Team in the specialist platoon is a nice touch. It's really going to make people think about what to use in those organizational slots.

YAY! for more infantry types in general.

Repair: The generally lower values will make repair-centered engineer teams very common.

The Oni has a hellacious CCV for a CAV.

With the Panther losing hacker, none of the models listed have it anymore: Is it gone for good?

The Conqueror has gone from Ammo Hog to Ammo Free. Typo?

The Katana has gone from Salvo/1 to Salvo/2. Typo?

In CAV1, the Archer never had a DFM, but now it has Salvo/1 as well as an Indirect Attack.

The Warlord's Repair stat seems out of step with the rest of the units in the game.

The Challenger has an Indirect Attack, but no AOE/? Attribute.

Should the Dragonfly be a Soft Target? It currently is not..

Ok. I think that's it for now. I'm sure there will be more after we get a chance to play with them some. ::D:

On a related note, I think Matt mentioned this already in his email with the new stuff. Sence we have alpha points in and you can now assemble forces, you are now able to register these Beta games as part of the CAVHQ system. For our benifit if you would please note first thing in the notes for the game that it is a beta game.

"Airborne" has an "e" on the end. C'mon Pat ::P:

Is there a difference between a Force Recon Team and a Recon Team?

I can't find the Jump SA description anywhere.

Will Airborne be a purchasable SA for any Infantry team? I know for a fact we jump mortars in the Army, and an airborne recon team seems to make sense too.

The Emporer has Ammo Hog, the Rhino does not. They both have a pair of RGC's and two missile launchers, so why the difference? I'd think that if the Emporer were throwing that much extra lead downrange, it'd have a higher RAV than the Rhino.

Also, in CAV 1, the Emporer had 8 MM and the Thunderbird 10. Now the Emporer has 6 MOV and the T-bird 5. Were they supposed to switch speeds?

Nope. Re: Ammo Hog, the Emperor has it for other reasons than that you mention

I'll post Jump SA when I get back to the office. Already razzed Pat about the "E"

Hadn't considered making Airborne an upgrade but now that you mention it, we can do that no problem.
