dargrin
Other then the fact that it gives anonymity to each of us what is the reason you chose your name? Mine started back in the COMUSERVE days where I wanted to use the name "dark grin. But in my haste I forgot the "k" and the space. I have always used is since. Ghost Rider
Mine actually has nothing to do with the comic book, in fact I didn't even know about the comic till much later. Mine came from my early battletech days, It was the name of one of my pilots that would never die. everybody assumed he was a ghost because he kept surviving the unsurvivable. prophet118
you can blame yahoo for the 118 in mine... i tried to sign up as prophet, but it insisted om numbers... as for prophet... well, i bought a wooden statue at a yard sale years ago, it became my bands logo, and helped us with the name of the band... we then took fake names to go with the name of the band... hence prophet

Digital [email protected]
Well a few years back a customer of mine named Matt told me he used the shortcut [email protected] when signing emails. He said since we were both endowed with this awesome name that I could use it. So, since the Internet is digital, I became Digital [email protected]
Lars Porsenna
I use 2 different logins, depending on the message I want to say... For much of the 'net world I use either Garrand, or Garrand.geo. FYI, the Garrand in reference was the M1 Battle Rifle of WWII. I was in the Army, and have tremendous interest and respect in WWII. Yes, I know its not spelled right, but that's usually because someone has already taken the correct spelling. The latter was forced on me when Geocities went over to Yahoo. The other (the one I use here) is named after the Etruscan king of Cluisum. I'm Italian, and have an important attachment to my cultural homeland and try to celebrate my heritage daily. Sure, I could've chosen something a bit more "conventional," but then I hope when people ask I can give them a little history lession about a slightly obscure, dead culture that influences us even today (long discussion). lstormhammer
From the game Fading Suns. It was the name of my first Brother Battle I played there. I opened up the Bible to a random page, pointed and thusly came 'Leviticus'. The Stormhammer part came later, and partly was because of actions in the game, and partly because I really like the GW tank of the same name. So it's stuck. --LSH

BunnyPuncher
I punch rabbits... actually... just a b-net nick... was gonna be RabbitPuncher (y'know.. good ol' kidney shot) but BunnyPuncher seemed a) cuter, b) crueler, and c) more perverse. And now I am known as Bunny or BP all over the internet :) It's even spread into RL, as the local hobby shop i support has a message board. It's a funny reaction when customers see a 6'1 240lb man referred to as "Bunny"
Qwyksilver
Qwyksilver was the handle originally of a PC I played in college, then a character I used to play on MUDs back in college (Darkness & Despair). Qwyksilver = quicksilver = mercurial : * having qualities of eloquence, ingenuity, or thievishness attributed to the god Mercury * characterized by rapid and unpredictable changeableness of mood It just sort of fits like a glove. I often get/got comments asking if I surf since Quicksilver is a company that sells surf ware. The answer - unless it's a web, I don't surf it. ThePolo
Oh... easy one for me. My 'real' name is Eric Polovich. Since I'm a guy, and there's usually been a handful of other Erics floating in the same social circles, folks tend to call me by my last name. Polovich is easily shortened to 'Polo'... The 'The' part of it is from college. Long story short, I was out of town and a few friends of mine threw a party. The put up a big banner on the front of their house to announce the party, and all that they could think of to put on the banner was "We've Got Polo". Apparently, someone came up to the door and said something like "Polo, huh... You mean the Polo?" It stuck after that.
Java Fiend
Why do I call myself Java Fiend, and have a sprig of coffee beans as an avatar? Hold on, I'm not quite awake yet. Let me tell you once I've had my first cup.
