Neyuttad
I was browsing through the online catalog looking for baddies for DND when I saw this pack; Beastmen of the Wyld... "Wyld"???? Is that supposed to be "kewl" or "ganzta", or just some kind of "xtremely" bad misspelling?? I hope we won't see a "deathnightz" anytime soon Ney - who seems to have too much time
BunnyPuncher
While I'm sure i'll get corrected by one of our resident experts (hopefully) I think it is in fact heading in the opposite direction from "hip hop" and refers to an archaic form of the word wild from Middle English usage. Edit: google seems to agree with my hypothesis... I had guessed "Old English" so I fixed that in the post above.
ladystorm
no, it is not a "hip hop" or "netspeak" phrase. it is intentionally spelled in that fashion. I forget what the actual reference is, but there is one.
Erion
Well, the Wyld in Exalted is all of uncivilized creation. . .

Neyuttad
"ganzta" Watch where you point fingers. Haha, was that supposed to make sense or just random blah blah no, it is not a "hip hop" or "netspeak" phrase. it is intentionally spelled in that fashion. I forget what the actual reference is, but there is one. Good, that's really good and that's all I needed to know (no sarcasm here)

Hexxenhammer
I think White Wolf started the trend with their "Wyld, Weaver, and Wyrm" mythology for Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Usually used to mean something primal or "fey." For example, "Girls Gone Wyld" would have less nudity (or maybe the same amount) but more howling at the moon and eating bunny rabbits raw. Neyuttad
Haha, was that supposed to make sense or just random blah blah No. You misspelt "gangsta". Oh my that's so friggin' funny, I misspelled a misspelled word. PS: "You misspelt"? Ok well much ado about nothing on my part, I was merely expressing my concerns about "ghetto talk" making its way to reaper but apparently they were unfounded. So it's all good. :0)
PS: "You misspelt"? http://www.answers.com/misspelt&r=67 Though "lt" is much less common than "led" in Americanese.

prophet118
yes, wyld is indeed spelled correctly, and those who cite white wolf as references are correct... it is used in Werewolf and in Exalted but the term is indeed probably older Main Entry: Wyld Pronunciation: 'wI(&)ld Function: biographical name Henry Cecil Kennedy 1870-1945 English lexicographer; edited Universal Dictionary of the English Language however it more or less means the same as wild, however with more emphasis, as in "the raw stuff of nature" i do not draw this definition from anywhere, merely from the uses of the word itself.
