tabascojunkie
(with baited breath) RPG you say?! I've been away for a little while and look what happens. Please tell us more!
Akela
While I don't have the complete list with me, Banshee was in the next batch that's about to come in. I do know that one for sure. StarSyde is still in conceptual stages but it's being developed for OGL SRD d20-ish mechanics. We're fully not happy with d20 Modern or Future so we're still working out a few details. Erion
OGL SRD = Open Gaming License System Resource Document. It's the legal terms and documents that allow pretty much anyone to publish game material that uses Wizard of the Coast Game systems and make a buck from it without having to negotiate a distinct licensing deal. It's was part of WotC's attempt (that seems to have worked pretty well) to have d20 become the LINUX of the roleplaying world.
Spartan6
Oh, well, by all means lets create a game and jump on the bandwagon because it's easy. There's a lot of good RPG engines out there. Frankly I liked Palladium's system the best and a few years ago there was a pretty snarky game called Millenium's End that had a pretty sweet system. Thank you for the explanation Erion. Erion
It not just that it's easy. 1) Lots of people already have a core rulebook for the d20 system that allows them to use OGL material. It's the same idea behind RAGE when it comes to tabletop wargames -- one system for many genres (though RAGE is not an open license). People won't have to learn a completely new set of rules to play in Reaper's worlds 2) Using a popular, pre-existing game engine allows Reaper to focus on getting the flavor of the game world right instead of working out and playtesting a new system. If they decide to make "plug-in" changes to OGL, then there is still playtesting, but not on a massive scale. For example, I don't really care for any of the d20 Modern/Future takes on Mecha, and even d20 mecha from Guardians of Order doesn't really do CAV's well, because the mechanics assume only a single primary weapon system, whereas CAV's can fire up to four weapons systems at once, not to mention the anti-personnel gear that is integral to some of them but represents only by close assault/CCV in the tabletop game. This is something I can see reaper re-builiding from scratch for StarSyde. For some reason the character concept of a Rach diplomat keeps popping into my head. I can't wait to see what becomes of Starsyde.

Crusoe the Painter
Ugh, I hate Palladium RIFTS. Fantasy was okay, though Hero System Fantasy was uber sweet. Even low level campaigns were 'epic'. In Rifts, I played a somewhat cyborg bounty hunter. Worst class ever, especially when everyone else was a Rahu Man, a Glitter Boy, and a Were Panther. I never was able to really do anything. Playing any human race basically sucks. Used to be humans had tech, everyone else had magic, until Rifts Atlantis came out. Then humans just started to plain suck ( Maybe except for Glitterboy, but he's pretty limited too ). So I became a elven operator...
Yaldabaoth
StarSyde is still in conceptual stages but it's being developed for OGL SRD d20-ish mechanics. We're fully not happy with d20 Modern or Future so we're still working out a few details. (Perhaps this is getting a tad off-topic, but...) Have you looked into being powered by Spycraft? While perhaps a bit more detailed than d20 Modern, it keeps much of the same general system, and does cinematic personal action (Read: gun combat), equipment requisition (read: getting your own CAV) and vehicle interaction (read:chases and shooting things) much better. Of course, you'd need to license it from Alderac, and there's the whole vehicle set that would have to be modelled with Spycraft-flavored d20 stats.... DETHSTRYKER
already have the CAV's covered through Hellion Productions...
Erion
I think he means game-statistics modeled, not "for tabletop use" modeled.

Erion
God in Heaven, no. If I want to solve differential equations to figure out vehicle damage I'll go build real mecha, thank you.
