FreeFall
Well, almost used this fig to do my first NMM attempt, but I needed him for a game, so I took the easy route. I played around with layering metallics, somethign I had tried and hated using Pro Paints, but I thought I'd see how the new Master Series mettalics works. I was surprised that I could actually thin the MS paints and use them for layering, while still keeping their color. You can't do that with Prop Paint Metallics, at least not very well. The layering on the cloth portions is a little raggged, but again this was kind of a rush job.
CuCulain42
The layered meatallics look good. The figure has a nice antiqued look to the metallics.
Niloc
Nice metallic job FF ... I like the silver and gold ... I've always found it near impossible to layer with metallics. Keep painting, post often :-) Here's my attempt at this: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12632
FreeFall
I've always found it near impossible to layer with metallics. I agree, but I've been very impressed with the Master Series Metallics, so I figured I'd try it. I'd suggest trying it again using the Master Series paints. It's possible because when you thin them, they do not lose their pigmentation. The Pro Paints tend to just seperate and form pools. I assume this is due to the finer pigment in the Master Series paints. Thanks for the comments guys.
Digital M@
I think the metallics look darned good, myself.
FreeFall
See, I do too, which is one reason I have never stressed about learning NMM. However, I'm reaching the point where I feel I need to take the plunge to enhance my skill set. Still, I find myself in the age old dilema: Spend 10 hours on a fig, or spend 6 hours on him then have 4 hours to play with him.
Nikmal
I think they look well too.. you did a good job of making him look fairly villianous if that was the intent? If that was not the intent.. you made him look more then intimidating that is for sure hehe... As far as switching to NMM it is up to you and how you want to approach the hobby. Do you plan on displaying them in contests.. do something other then gaming with them.. Or just paint game with them and have fun! To me it is all a matter of how far you want to go in this hobby of ours and what you think you can imporve on to get there, that is all -jon
