HOTincture
I find that I can do metallics much better than NMM. I find that I am drawn to figures that are historical. I will try to push myself with a fantasy figure next. What should I start with? The picture first, with a variety of linked options afterwards. All nine pictures on my website in one page. http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_pfc.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p01.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p02.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p03.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p04.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p05.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p06.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p07.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~hotincture/2694_p08.jpg
HOTincture
does it stink that bad?
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted March 28, 2005 Moderator Share Posted March 28, 2005 The facial details are unclear in the pictures, but no, it's a fine paintjob.
HOTincture
Here is the face. By the face I mean the big mouth and his cheeks. The top portion of his face is obscured by the pseudo-myrmillo helmet's face-plate. Be prepared for a mouth that is as big as Steve Tyler's. Neyuttad
It's pretty good actually. Metal parts are smooth and shinny. Clean colours. Nice base (is that a magnetic base?) Good job!
Nikmal
I think that this mini is good! the only criticism I have and that is with the sculpt itself is the face.. man this guys face looks like he just sat on a 6 inch tack and stood up to whack the offending chair for the tack :) Nice blending on the cloth parts and the metalics look fine. A job well done thanks for sharing!
HOTincture
Making it out of magnet is a good idea! I used some matte-board to make a pad for the metal base. This will reduce scuffing and not scratch delicate table tops. I also cut a square in the middle to sign the bottom of the base without it being eventually worn off. I did not wish to put my initials or signature on the viewable part of the base. Yes, the face is a charicature, but it is very effective at illustrating the gladiator's exertion! Thank you,
Otter
I have to agree, the sculpting of the face under-whelmes me, but the painting is great.
HOTincture
Thank you. I have a small amount of confidence back. It is now time for me to turn my cloak device back on and hide in the shadows. I hope to have another figure ready for show off soon.
