Bladerunner

Blood of Heroes

Jackie Brown (an oft maligned QT movie, I dunno, there are parts in it, and lines spoken that I just love)

Seven Samurai (sadly I actually only saw this movie a short time ago, I wish I would have seen it before)

:) I've got to say many of the movies on peoples lists here are top notch (although admitedly I've cringed when I've seen a few, but i'm sure people will do the same when they see my list).

I dunno, I'm 29 (largely a product of th elate 80's and early 90's), I think the movies I like are largely a reflection of my generations discontent. At the same time, I often wish I liked more mainstream film, and that I could relate to what people see in the latest blockbuster. Amusing though, looking at yout profile you were bron 3 days before me, so that might take into account for similar tastes :)

Too bad I live on the other side of the world these days, otherwise I'd bring the popcorn.

In no particular order:

Boondock Saints

Brave Heart

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Spaceballs

Payback

Princess Bride

Ghost in the Shell

Those are the first seven I could think of. In truth, I would be hard pressed to narrow it down to only 5. Consider I only by movies that I really like, and that I am willing to watch over and over. At the moment, I have 312 movies in my DVD collection, not including the horror flicks. Thats another 72. SO I gues I have something like 384 favorite movies... soon to be 385 when Hitchhiker's Guide hits the theater.

Brazil is brilliant.. I love almost all of Terry Gilliams films. Boondock Saints is really good too... :)

"You know, you Irish cops are perking up. That's two sound theories in one day, neither of which deal with abnormally sized men. Kind of makes me feel like Riverdancing. "

Hmmmm. I don't usually think of these as my -favorites-, because my favorite changes every few months. These are, however, the ones that I keep coming back to over the years, just having a yen to watch it over and over again.

In no particular order:

Emperor's New Groove (Beware the groooooove!)

Shrek

Monsters Inc.

(animated movies are good!)

Princess Mononoke

The American President (Sorkin rocks!)

Fifth Element (Mmmm. Explosions and funny rolled into one. Bruce Willis ain't bad either.)

The Dark Crystal (Very cool. I also have the documentary on its creation.)

While You Were Sleeping (Nearly anything with Sandra Bullock, really.)

Real Genius (Why do you have that TOY on your head?)

Star Wars (4/5/6)

Princess Bride (Best friends and I get together and watch it with the sound off so we can quote all the lines.)

Back to the Future I (Nostalgia, mostly)

Meet Joe Black (Death comes to learn about life. I love the paradigm. I think that's the word I want.)

Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail (Harrison Ford and Sean Connery beat up Nazis. *nodnod* I can't watch the guy disintegrate at the end, though, it turns my stomach.)

Oscar (Sylvester Stallone in a comedy, and it works!)

*heh* Now I want to watch a movie!

hehe I almost forgot a movie I love to watch. It's silly and ridiculous, but I love it anyway.

Yes yes i know, but I saw it in the theaters with my brother when it first was released, and I remember they handed out these little translation cards as you went in so you could translate what they were saying lol

MAcross Plus: The Movie

LoTR

Pirates of the Caribean

Office Space

And while technically not qa movie, the 'Walking wWith Dinosaurs' movies.

Also, I am a big fan of the post 1985 Japanese Godzilla movies. Godzilla 2000 I liked, and there are many more that I would happily watch until my wife makes me don a strait jacket.
