Spartan6
Felines. I mean really, what creature is more mercenary than a cat? Their loyalty is totally dependant on the food/attention quotient.
JoeGKushner
That's one of the reasons I think PDF's would be a good bet. They could use stuff from the Dark Haven line as examples of non-Warlords figures fitting into a standard game and provide more ideas on basing for example, to showcase how standad brocolio based figures can be converted into standard based ones. Otter
A cavalry-based group. I just put together a couple 500-point all-cavalry armies to try out against my son and husband. Yeah, I never completely outgrew that girl-horse thing. :D But in my defense, my cavaly armies are undead.
VelveteenRabbit
I like the idea of keeping the lists down to a minimum myself. Putting groups together that most often work together works well... Part of the reason is you don't want to own 20 faction books to own the complete game. Ten is more than enough! That said, I'm all for enough variety that you could create an army that focuses as you see fit but isn't necessarily balanced as its own list. For example, if you wanted to create an Ogre list it would be easy to add an ogre leader or two and make some ogre grunts. But they probably aren't going to have bowmen or clerics... As a complete list the Reven have it all, but if you want to make a total goblin/beastman/ogre list for your fighting company I'd really rather it not require 4 books to do... Hopefully the faction books will include enough model options that you can make some very interesting specialized forces. But at the same time I'd rather not see a "Sisters of the Blade" list or anything like that. All that said, you already can make whatever list you like. I mean, you can find a nice miniature you like, do a little modification, call her Mother Constance, give her Duke Gerard stats and call her your Battle Nun Warlord... It's work, but you'll also be the only one with that particular appearance.
Melbourne Mew Mew
I've mentioned it in another thread, but I'll add my voice to those lobbying for the option of an all-Bladesisters army. It'd probably be better to include the rules in the Mercenary faction book, though, rather than going the 40K route of seperate faction books for red marines, blue marines, pink-and-purple-polka-dotted marines, etc, though... That's pretty much the point of referring to them as a sub-faction.
JoeGKushner
Yeah, sub factions are great. If the demand for print isn't there, that's why PDF is always an option. So we have seen generic mercenaires and Sisters of the Blade but no Black Legionaries yet. Hopefully we'll see some soon. And man, ogres... yeah, that GW Ogre Kingdoms is some sweet stuff. If I had more money and space... yeah, they'd be owned!
