Cade
RMS and Valejo bottles are within a couple mm of each other in most dimensions. Yes, but what is the height? I wanted to go shopping for a carry case this afternoon and I don't have my paint around to measure. With my luck, I'll end up buying a case that's 2mm too short to put my paints in. Or better yet, I'll end up getting a case that holding all the Reapers just fine but will be too short for the vallejos and I'll have the plastic lid that just won't stay closed. Moderator Froggy the Great Posted May 25, 2005 Moderator Share Posted May 25, 2005 Height on the RMS bottle is 55mm, width is 35mm.
Cade
Height on the RMS bottle is 55mm, width is 35mm. Are you sure? 35mm wide? By my calculations, which could be wrong, that's 1.38 inches wide, or 1 and 6/16 of an inch.
prophet118
maybe he meant 3.5?
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted May 25, 2005 Moderator Share Posted May 25, 2005 Sorry, 25mm wide. I forgot to correct for starting the measurement at 1cm instead of 0cm.
Heisler
I don't have my paints with me at work, but if you take the measurements off a Vallejo bottle you will be fine. It is every so slightly larger than the RMS ones, including being taller.
Cade
Sorry, 25mm wide. I forgot to correct for starting the measurement at 1cm instead of 0cm. Cool, 25mm looks right. Are you sure about the 55mm, seems short to my eyes. I have that converted to 2 and 3/16 inches. Does that include the cap? Side Note - I hate the fact that the U.S. isn't metric and that many things aren't duel measured. All I have at my desk is a ruler that's only Imperial Units. So I have to convert metric to inches, which leaves me with a decimal. Then, I have to convert the decimal, x/10, into a unit of x/16, to line up with the ruler. Such a pain. Moderator Froggy the Great Posted May 25, 2005 Moderator Share Posted May 25, 2005 I swear, there's something wrong with my eyes today. 25mm x 75mm. How I ever get non-trapezoidal terrain built I never understand.

Dimensions seem right. I built a replica that I'm going to take with me on my lunch break.
WitchyWolf
I'm one of those plastic box types. I have two boxes that are about shoe box size. (I'm not home or I'd give you all the gory details). Each box holds upto 66 RMS paint bottles. I've cut some cardboard divders and use those to partitition areas for other stuff like small bottles of various Gunk recipies and the few Vallejo paints I have. Painting the cap tops with the color is a must. When I need to travel for "craft day", I stack these two boxes in the bottom of a cloth carrier that looks like a grocery paperbag with handles. For tools and brushes and odd stuff (small pallette, brush cleaner, needle files, glue) I have a small craft tote with about the same footprint as the paint bins. It has a lift out tray in the top with 3 compartments - one is perfect for brushes. It sits in the cloth carrier on top of the paint. I'm ready to go. twiztidjuggalo78
When I travel I use an ammo box that was made for paintballs. Its made of plastic and has a huge storage space on the bottom plus the lid has a smaller space that holds brushes perfectly. I have had GW paints, RMS paints, static grass, gravel, extra paper towels, glue, cans of spray primer...etc.. etc.. all in the one case!! worked perfectly for me. only major problem was that when I wanted to paint I had to "unpack" the whole thing then when I was done "repack" it all, kind of a pain but nothing that I couldnt deal with. sirikus
one thing I would suggest for anyone that travels to paint is a rinsewell... everyone seems to think it's a cat feeder when they first see it for some reason =) but it's very handy to keep clean water available when you're not near a sink, which is especially handy when trying to thin your paints with water. I got mine at hobby lobby for about $15 but this is the only place I could find a description of it online Rinsewell Description
