One of the main differences between the two games is complexity. CDIII offers more detail and is a non-point based system, and is an excellent set of rules. Blitzkrieg Commander is based on the Warmaster rules from Games Workshop and is a point based system for the troops. I have played both and right now I prefer BC mostly because of speed of play. Its a much faster game. If you prefer historical accuracy and are willing to take a little longer to play then I would do CDIII. If you are more interested in a faster play simulation then BC.

Old Glory's infantry is going to a look a little small against the battlefront miniatures. Armor is pretty close to the same size and can be mixed without to many problems.

I have been doing FLames of war and it plays fairly well. The booksa re from overseas though, and not cheap. Our group is sharing one rule book because of the price.

Commmand Decision is a better simulation, but a more complex game. I have used it in the past (particularly Striker II - the scifi version) and its a good game.

Probably you want to figure out were you stand on the playability versus detail versus simulation stuff, and check around on the forums for each of thegames.

I've only experienced OG's M4A3(75)W Shermans, and can't say I was super pleased with them. Besides the HUGE chunk of sprue on the back end (which required DREMEL work to remove), the pieces are well detailed, but the turret is visibly undersized, and none of the pieces have fenders on the tracks. Small nits, it may sound, but they completely broke the credibility of the piece (even in combat, Shermas would retain their fenders, as photo evidence shows), and detracted from my opinion. I'm a detail fanatic, and would rather spend my money on quality pieces, IMHO.

Also check out Mein Panzer from Old Dominion. The rules are written for 6mm but also seem to have 15mm conversions (or are at least compatable with that scale). Actual gamescale is 1-to-1 for vehicles, with infantry based on fireteams, perfect for 15mm IMHO.

Damon.

The only WWII 15mm I every played was BATTLEGROUND, I'm not even sure these rules exist anymore, I think the company that produced them may have gone under. They were a terrific rule set though if you can get your hands on them. I think someone may have bought the game so it may be being produced under a different name though.

If you contact the company - you might be able to buy a sample pack (just let them know you are interested in buying a sample to see how their minis fit with what you have) - they can probably hook you up with a deal so you get a good overview of their product for a very reasonable price. Sometimes, some historical companies will send you a free sample pack as well. Can't hurt to ask.

I know I say this a lot, but Defiance from Majestic Twelve Games (MJ12games.com) can handle WW2, as well as most stuff from WW1 through to sci-fi. It emphasises morale and flexibility and does well at 15mm or 25mm scales (it was in fact designed for both from the outset). The illustrations and fiction are from a weird and interesting "what-if" historical sci-fi of the author's creation.

The only problem is that at present nobody's completed any army lists for WW2; but if you know much about the period you might actually enjoy doing this yourself.
