Major Thom
Looking over the elves, I can put together a force that has archery in 4 troops. One troop with the Vale archers, a second troop led by Selwyn with Caerwynn (or Niriodel), and a pair of centaurs. That's a pretty shooty army list. I thought you could not have multiples of Centaurs, as they are not on the list on page 112.
Lord Baasen
Centaurs are Solitaires, not Unique Solitaires.
All-Terrain Monkey
I'm just curious as to why everyone thinks the only way Elves can win is if they have as many archers as possible. Elven melee troops are very cheap, which allows greater numbers of them on the battlefield. If you don't think this is a good thing, ask any Necropolis player. Try playing an all-melee Elven force with casters thrown in for good measure, and you'll see that while their archery is a strong point it doesn't make or break the army like so many people are saying it does. Erion
GoldenEagle, I've been saying the same thing in other threads. Elven Archers are nice, but they're not the be-all-end-all of what the denizens of Almirith are capable of. Try some variety. Use proxies. No one's going to make you spend a dime to find out your elves can indeed do more than rain feathery death down on their foes.

I do not pla elves but isn't saying "play with no archers..." to an elf player kind of like saying "don't use your paincages" to a Darkspawn player or "Don't use Scoundrel's Luick" to a Merc Player? Honestly, it's not the numerical limit that upsets some of us, it's the loss of tactical flexibility by the need to combine them all into one troop that's got us riled. That, and people who feel that they're being told they wasted their money on buying archers. You know, buying minis, the thing that keeps the company afloat? Oh, I think Elves can field alot of different potential army builds and be competative; my original position was simply that I felt bad for people who had bought 18 Elven archers to use in a 1000 point game, or who really enjoyed mixing Elven archers with their melee troups in a combined arms effort. But now I'm pretty content to see what happens with the faction books, so I'll buy into a different army while I wait to see what happens with the Elves in their book; not a big deal for me right now one way or another.
