Looking for some good bands.

I'm looking for anything in the following genres:

- Death Metal

- Metal

- Screamo

The catch is that I really hate swearing. I tolerate it, but I will avoid it when I have an option, and that includes music. I hate listening to songs that swear at me constantly. That's it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hum. Most of the metal I listen to is "old school" (i.e. I don't think I own a single album past the '90s), but I highly reccommend Sepultura. I have no idea what they're doing today, but Beneath the Remains, Arise... and Roots are great! I believe they were traditionally classified as death metal, though thematically they have a lot more to do with speed metal than the former...

Damon.

Hendercrazy: You have some great taste in music... I will just ignore the fact that you mentioned Slipknot, SOAD and Mudvayne  Good to see another Falconer fan, though!

No swearing... hm, ok, that rules out Children of Bodom (not alot of swearing, but some).

For death metal, I'd really reccommend Emperor. No swearing that i could here (though it is sometimes hard to tell with death metal).

Some other metal suggestions:

Edguy (power metal)

Gamma Ray (power metal)

Rhapsody (Fantasy power metal)

Luca Turili (fantasy power metal)

Apocalyptica (Classical celloists who also like metal? yes please!)

Sentenced (They recently dissolved, but their final album is awesome. Old stuff is death metal, newer stuff is mo coherent, and self proclaimed "suicide metal")

Lacuna Coil (good female vocals.. similar to Nightwish)

Spiritual Beggars (just good ol' heavy metal)

For My Pain... (goth-ish metal)

Poisonblack (goth-ish metal)

Subway To Sally (german metal, with some odd twists)

Demons and Wizards (Blind Guardian meets Iced Earth... literally... lead singer of BG and lead singer of IE teamed up to work on this side-band.. new album is coming out soon)

Katatonia (melodict depressed metal)

Moonspell (heavy metal)

I will probably think of more later, but this should keep you busy, in addition to what was listed above :B):

Sorry to be picky/anal, but it's actually IE's guitarist in D&W, not singer.

Everyone's mentioned some great bands, here's two more-

Firewind(old-school metal with shredding guitar solos and monster riffs courtesy of Gus G) -

Brand New Sin ( heavy bada$$ music , Black Label-style) -

Oh, yeah, and Black Label Society, of course!

Also, check out Fuse TV's new show, Metal asylum.....cool vidoes, hosted by Julia.

Great stuff!!!

Variety is the spice of life my friend. ::D: Though I will say some bands you just have to be in the right kind of mood to listen to. :poke:

Also, I highly recommend the song "Book of Thel" by Bruce Dickinson (off the Chemical Wedding album). No idea what his other solo stuff is like.

If I think of any others, I'll post 'em.

Tommy. ^_^

So long as you stick to Accident of Birth and Chemical wedding , Brilliant.

The others are soso

Blaze's Silicon Messiah is a good album to check out though.

There's some good bands in these lists! I'll have to check up on some I haven't heard of.

Comment on Slipknot: listened to them, never really did anything for me. But saw them at Ozzfest, and they were amazingly good live. Still don't listen to the CDs, but I'd go see them again in a heartbeat.

You also might be interested in this book, which I (and all my highschool friends) found quite good.

I experienced Apocalyptica at the Roskilde Festival some years back, that was an awesome concert. Was a bit disappointed with the album I bought afterwards though.

If Apocalyptica plays near you, go see them, nothing like headbanging heavy metal celloists.

variety?... in such a small segment of music?... no such thing

Not true. If you think all metal bands sound the same, then you really haven't listened to metal. That's like saying all jazz artists sound the same, or any musical genre , for that matter.
