SaintRigger
Yes. I am 100% sure that a huge portion of apple followers are irrational - myself being one of them. I am perfectly happy on a PC, and grew up with PCs. Because I have unix and linux experience, I became the "mac guy" at work once os X was released - which I love.. it helped me make the "switch" so to speak. Recently my 12" powerbook died, and I was seriously bummed.. there was no reason for it, I've not gotten bummed when other equipment has joined the choir invisible, but this one distrubed me for some reason. Even after having it replaced with a newer, faster 12" powerbook - I still mourn the loss of the first one. There is no rational explination for this. I also get a little ego bruising when people bash apple, which again - is totally irrational. Why should I care what they think, let alone take it personally? Better graphics is highly debatable though - one of the reason that Adobe has decided to do all development for PC first, and Mac second. Also why there is a movement amongst designers and artists to get away from macs - but oddly enough there is a push from the scienctific community and internet security firms to use macs. I work in the scientific community, and having met plenty of scientists who can barely tie their shoelaces (much less download a driver), I can understand why they'd go to Apple. Plus they look mighty pretty on their desks.
SaintRigger
:D You've experienced the Educational Paradox. The more degrees your earn, the less you actually know. Actually, the ability to take a bunch of macs - say 25 lab devices or something and then hook them all up using Xgrid to act as a distributed processing cluster - all within the OS without having to jump through any flaming hoops is really cool. By day it's an innocent looking classroom, by night you are working to disprove string theory and cause the universe to fly apart. :)
Lars Porsenna
Are you sure it is the Apple followers that are Irrational? Less harware conflicts, better OS and graphics, Less crashes, corruption and Viri. The only downside is less software flexability. I remember reading about a fellow that was going to turn his Mac into a Windows platform as a joke, and started recieving death threats from Mac fans. If that doesn't illustrate their irrationability, then I don't know what does... Damon.
haldir
I'm a PC user & I like windows but recently I've been thinkin of gettin a mac mini, & learning mac stuff just in case I decide to get a job that requires mac use, thenI would be set. Lately thou I've been liking what I've seen come out for mac & all the stuff (not a mac but I did finally picked up a ipod iphoto 30gb after I got back from Rcon & I love the software on it, would even be better if I used a mac with it (windows version of course) anyways, gettin this back on topic, I don't Warmachine isn't that high of priced, epcially online buying, even at Hobbytown, I was able buy a rpg mini (the dwarf mechanic) the other day for like 5.99 before tax, but then I picked up a bunch of stuff & the total was bigger then I wanted (ha ha, damn you Hobbytown!!!! ), highest priced WM I've paid for like under 20 & it was one of the 'jacks (a Kahdor). I'm not a GW fan by far but they are doin something right since they have a huge fan following & they stay in buisness, so that counts for something. Spartan6
I talked to a guy today who's had it with GW and is putting a ton of stuff on e-bay. I asked him what bothered him the most and he named two things; Forced obsolosence of mini's and price.
DETHSTRYKER
The one thing i really dot like is having th main GW production plant in my home town. Thats right GW is moving (has already) the Glen Burnie HQ to memphis TN. We had 3 hobby shops here at one point. Then they showed up. One by one they all died off. Now the only thing we have here is GWUS HQ. I dont buy any of their products. They ran off Warmachine, the unofficial Reaper store that was like 70% Reaper Everything, and the historicals. Lately i have been playing Warhammer Napoleonics, Warhammer ACW, and Warhammer Ancients. Now even though they require the use of a Warhammer Rulebook and were spinoffs of GW i vannot bring any of it through their door to the battle bunker. Which leaves me with hardly anywhere to play. In my eyes they seem to discourage the hobby. If it aint GW i cant talk about it or show off my work without being kicked out. cant even talk about it amongst a friend while i am in the store. Anyways i will stop ranting. But that is my experience...
SaintRigger
I could imagine the frustration. It's particularly amusing/ironic/sad (pick one) that so many of the GW employees I know (past, present and future) ae actually really great people with very diverse hobby tastes. I'd almost wager at least one of them is a fanatic warlord player. ;) Are they still doing production at the TN plant? I thought they closed it on account they were having trouble getting skilled workers to work at that facility.
Enchantra
I guess this all falls into what I'm sure someone else may have already said: If you don't like something vote with your dollar. Take your money someplace else if you don't like a certain company. I rarely buy from Games Workshop mainly due to the price on some things and due to the fact that I can no longer get most Games Workshop stuff I want from my local stores. It just leaves more of my mini budget for Reaper instead. That's how I vote with my dollar.
DETHSTRYKER
In one. We mostly do Historicals now. Oh andinstead of hiring new crew for the new production facility, they are moving them all to Memphis TN. Riverbluff Irregulars

Lars Porsenna
Wow! In 2 years the prices on plastics have jumped $10! So for a set of plastic dwarfs that will be...$2.18 per...a 30% increase??? Damon, not so happy...
SaintRigger
Their "price adjustments" are now going to be annual (which they were to begin with, they just slipped a few in every quarter depending on how sales were doing in the past, until people got wise, aparently) Here is a list of all the changes: http://us.games-workshop.com/news/current/spill1.htm
Lars Porsenna
Guess I'll be sticking to Ebay from now on (though I already have a maxed out Eldar army, and a solid nucleus for Dwarfs and High Elves, and Empire or Bretonnians if I use historicals). I think the Wood Elves will be my last WH army... Damon.
