Erion
yeah. I'd like to retract my earlier defense of the company and say WTF? 20% increase on paints with no reformulation? $8 for a tube of super glue? Their bags of sand and rocks just jumped to $8. And long-existing models with no new scuplts in sight, for which the molds have long been paid for, all jumped 17%. No wood elves for me, thanks. haldir
does the price jump effect the plastic bases??? I didn't see that in that listing, thou I did see their brushes are starting to reach "real" brush pricing thou--8.00. Thought was funny the pva glue w/GW logo. Nice to have the stuff where you buy your minis, but doesn't gw relize alot of people buy their model supplies at a hobby shop? it's cheaper that's for sure--bottle of extra thin cement (ie plastic glue) tamiya 3.80 at my mom & pop hobby shop. really the only thing from GW I buy anymore. I'd switch to say the Dark Age/WM style but being that most of my collection is on the gw style, it wouldn't fit right, thou those new Warlord bases are looking nice thou, even thou I use rounded bases. One reason for the GW ones is the bulk & I can get them over in Boise, but if Reaper were to package those bases in a bag, hint hint hint Randy M
cutebutpsycho
Well, I guess I'm leaning more towards a vote for GW firmly in the EVIL category now. For those nutjobs like me who just LOVE elves, GW is finally making an army that does not consist of wooden poses. If you want to see the pictures (more than what's in the coming soon category) click on the warhammer button on the top bar, then wood elves when that screen comes up. You will see the concept artwork for the book cover with 8 thumbnails-click on each thumbnail to see the full unit. What's a girl to do? I have two choices-throw my morals out the window and buy from a money grubbing company who has poor (read no) customer service? Or stick to my morals and drool over those elves every time I think about them????? Would it be cheating if my husband got me the army for my birthday? Making ME exempt from paying GW prices, but still getting me what I want???
Lars Porsenna
Well, if you're patient, wait a year or so until they start hitting Ebay. Most of my HE collection, and a fair portion of my dwarfs, are Ebay purchases... Damon.
haldir
just browsin gw.com & came across the LoTR balin's tomb set, now that I wouldn't mind having, as that was one of my favorite parts in the entire movie, if the set was to include all that is the picture, I would be happy. Can't beleive I'm sayin this but with gw's online policy is there ANY site that have gw stuff cheap? I know hillcity is one & warstore is anther. I'm looking for hte war mamuk kit, really don't want to pay 65 + shipping for a giant plastic elelphant. Randy M
:0)
I'm looking for hte war mamuk kit, really don't want to pay 65 + shipping for a giant plastic elelphant. War Mumak of Harad $65.00 $55.25 $9.75 (Actual price, Hillcity's price, then amount saved) http://www.hillcity-comics.com/role_play/gw/lotr.htm
haldir
sorry totally spaced off my question on this one, thanks for the response Neal emailed me & said Warstore has it for for 52, so I'll probably go with them (my fav online retailer) + add a 23 to order & I get free shipping so no biggee. smokingwreckage
Obsolete: Eldar Harlequins, Eldar pirates, Eldar Exodites, Guardians with Lasguns and virtually any other unusual kit-out, Dark Reapers as light vehicle killers, squads smaller than 10 models. In other words my entire army concept and structure. The real problem is that building an army is a HUGE investment in time (and a reasonable investment in entertainment cash) and to have it essentially deleted is a stinging insult to the collector, painter and converter. Then there was Necromunda, Bloodbowl, and those people who played Epic, BFG, Warmaster....... I don't mind buying off the internet, but MilSims here in Oz wanted to carry Epic, and GW would NOT wholesale to them. Sorry, it's a SPECIALIST game. No wholesale. These days I have a CC and a net connection but back when I played GW games I didn't, and they screwed THEMSELVES out of my hobby money both then and when I rediscovered miniatures some years later. Meh, maybe there's a smart business choice underpinning all the crap on average, but I refuse to deal with gits.
vejlin
GW's new drybrush is listed at 125 crowns in the new White Dwarf magazine. that's about 20 dollars!!!
SaintRigger
Really? $20 for a drybrush, eh? It better be sable! ;) Thats as good as the $40 aquarium plants :)

Bodhi
I'm quoting a former GW employee here: "they're a weird company. Great to work with one minute, pure hell the next" So it seems as if they have a rather inconsistant managing policy. I've also heard retailers say that GW are extremely difficult to cooperate with. Trying to make a decent profit on your minis - in my opinion - is just sound business thinking not very evil. Not being very good (or at best being inconsitant) at handling the business is worse if you're running a company.
Arvok
As a former owner of a gaming store I can testify to the fact that GW does not work well at all with small retailers (or even distributors for what it's worth). I've also talked with several former GW emplyees and associates and they all have a negative opinion of the company. Also, their mini's hands are way too big. I understand exagerating certain aspects of a miniature sculpt (has anyone else noticed how short the legs are on Jason Weibe's minis?), but their hands are ridiculous. I think it's interesting that the post that started off this string didn't mention GW, but everybody new that was the evil company of which it was speaking.
