Jester
Well, knowing I was going up against Jen, Lili, Derek, AND Marike, I knew I wasn't going to stand a snowball's chance in Texas so I used the opportunity to try something COMPLETELY different. So I did... and since my time was severely limited, I attacked the paint job in my usual fashion. Was I happy with the results? Not really, except for the gold. I love how it turned out on the shield and on the legs of the miniature. Then the shield got bent in the suitcase, so the horizon line is off kilter. The cloak and tabard got away from me... ick, and well... the armor, let's just leave it alone. No comments are really necessary, but since Mike asked, I'm posting the miniature anyways. Sometimes you learn more from your mistakes...
Mrs. E
I think your paint job is lovely and hope that someday I can paint metal that nicely :) I love the shield!
Spike
Ooooooh.. shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiney! There's non-metal-metal.. and then there's CHROME! that one really jumps out and says WHOA!
Frustrated Father
Well that blows away anything that I had planned for mine (tossing it in corner ...)! Damn nice work sir, I might try to emmulate some of that (cloak in particular).
prophet118
ive never been a big fan of SENMM... just never looked realistic to me.. looks good, but not realistic
ixminis
Thanks Jester!!! To me, this mini screams "Paint me OVER THE TOP!!!" and/or "I'm busy, make it work!!!" and you made it work. For me, composition is one of the top 3 things that I look for in a finished mini. This one is pretty tight. I'm with prophet about SENMM not looking "realistic" but on this mini, realism would detract. Anyone remember the Excalibur movie with all the super-polished armor? It could be pretty useful if fighting in a bright place... ya know, shining light in your opponents face. I'm glad ya posted it!!! Thanks!!! This mini's just one of those characters (like Gerard, for instance) that just screams "SUPER-PALADIN". And the way this is painted up, I immediately thought of Excalibur! Rob- Outside of the cloak lookin' a little rough, this piece is awesome. I, for one, think the chrome is quite realistically done (nevermind the "realistic" ramifications of having chrome armor. We ARE talking about fantasy minis, right?). And man, the gold is very nice (love me some Gold Ochre triad!).

The new ones absolutely ROCK. WOOT! Oh, and Kelcore... more love to the new GREYS!!! WOOT! So very nice.
Gardensnake
ive never been a big fan of SENMM... just never looked realistic to me.. looks good, but not realistic Have to echo this. I'm also not a fan of NNM, to me it looks good in a photo but not in person. Saying that though, the actual work is top notch. Looks good. SaintRigger
AH HA! I'm not IXMINIS, but I looked anyways! Dude - why aren't you happy with this, this is stunning! I'm in agreeance that the over the top really works here :) Nice one. PS.. I love your work too :)
ReaperShaun
I think I like the shield and armor below the back of the head. Youre right on! Im going to bite your style.
Hendercrazy
Love the color scheme, style and special presence! You definately get that feeling of bold ethics, brave leadership and stern authority with the composition. The chrome illusion works best in a 2D world... but doesn't look too bad considering! Takes lots o' blending skills to pull that off. Killer work!
Mr. Green
And the way this is painted up, I immediately thought of Excalibur! Excalibur, indeed. All those guys looked like they were taking chrome baths between takes. LOL Actually I'd like to see some Photoshop bling-bling on this one - or would that be going to far?
