Nanite
even the Mecha market is dying... I think the thing there is it's been dominated by Battletech for so long. Now there's the click version, and the old one has a bewildering array of support. I mean, there's how many thousands of official mechs and weapons? Anyway, I don't think the space-combat niche has ever had a real dominator, since the early days of SFB. Of course full thrust is really popular. smokingwreckage
The thing being that Starship combat is dominated by rules, not miniatures. Still, a good miniatures line with a good ruleset is attractive because you can just play out-of-the-box, which I tend to think is Full Thrust's main advantage over Starmada; or at least it WAS until Cold Navy brought out super-cool digital sculpts with Starmada stats included. Froy The Orc
Silent Death has always performed well for me. Add all the optional rules and it makes for a fun filled ime of Starship combat.
Daley's Dragoons
Out of the systems I have played, by far the worst as far as rule organization had to be the set for Star Blazers. While the ships were cool, if small, the rules were a nightmare to figure out and use. Full Thrust is one of my favorites along with Silent Death, but I would be very interested in the new Imperator when it comes out.
Ivarr
I definately like Starmada the best, and there is a guy in the St Louis area who put together rules for using Jovian Cronicles minis on tall flight bases to do space-bot combat using the starmada rules....very cool. matsumoto
Please point me to a good star Combat system ., so i can pick it up ad play it. my experience is limited to SFB, BFG, silent death, FASA start trek, and a few hypothetical ST cvs. SW homegrowns. someone once modded the SFB system to make it run a lot fatser, and it was fun to play, as usual, my klingons died honorably... i want to know the cream that is out there.... IMPERITOR: I WANT YOU! FOR MY GAMING COLLECTION?
smokingwreckage
www.mj12games.com "starmada" built for hex-mat play, but fine without hexes. I like hexes and need to get a nice big starspangled hex mat....
