ugluk69
Well I tried my hand at some Crusaders. They are dipped. These guys were quite easy to paint...I like that in a mini!!
Warden54
Sweet Ugluk, those look nice, I like your color choices, that inspires me to pick mine up and actually prime them lol. The only thing I'm unsure of, is the lining on the right one's tabard, it might just be my poor eyesight, but it looks almost white. I'm not sure that is what you were going for or not but I figured since the emblem and everything else is yellow I figured you meant that to be too. Oh and one more thing, you have to divulge your basing technique, I'm lovin those bases.
ugluk69
No the lining on the tabard is white. My basing is 3 sizes of brown ballast glued to the base and then static grass. Thats it!!
Niloc
Great looking Crusaders ugluk69. Love the color scheme, and the bases are really well suited for the minis. Thanks for sharing :-)
Clouse
They look really good. And the bases turned out great too.
LordColdsteal
Your bases are just amazing... detail and still playable. The colors are good... you might have put another layer on the tabard.. given it a bit more hightlights. Nice job.
Yukimura
Yeah, how do you do your bases Ugluk? im gonna hafta know for those Elves im painting...
matsumoto
selective application of choice materiel. that is how basing is done! of course, i just cover mine in sand most of the time...speeds things up... Ugluk, very cool mini's. they look like the guys on the datacard, skill level met or exceeded. you rock the house, orc-man!
Warden54
That's all you do for your bases Ugluk?!? You make it look easy lol. I'll have to give that a try next time I base a mini.
tabascojunkie
Okay, I'll jump on the base thing too. I also use ballast for my bases, but usually flock instead of static grass. Yours look different that mine. Do you put the different sizes of ballast on at different times? I have one batch of 2 different sizes mixed together in the same bag and apply them at the same time. And what kind of glue do you use? I use Elmer's.
ugluk69
I mix all three sizes of ballast in a container then elmers glue on the base. I then dip the mini in the ballast, more glue (just a few dabs) then on goes the static grass....thats it, very simple.

smokingwreckage
Ugluk, have you got a camera and written a tute for your paint-and-dip techniques yet? We would all be greatly enriched by it.
