Qwyksilver
This is probably old news, since it says it was published in June 2005, but I just happened to pick up the Bran Mak Morn collection of stories this afternoon at Borders.
Hells_Clown
I picked up a copy of "The Savage Adventures of Solomon Kane: The Puritan Sowrdsman" not long ago. Interesting character is Mr. Kane. Ya might wanna check it out.
primeval
Oooh! I think I saw this the other day - is that the "Fantasy Masterworks" series? I just got to the end of the double-anthology of "Conan" from that series, and I enjoyed them so much I'm now re-reading them over again! Tommy. It is actually one of the Del Rey softcover reprints of Wandering Star's hardcover series of REH books. The interior art is all B&W instead of color, but the text is all the same. The Bran Mak Morn one even has a story not in the WS version because it was just discovered. The third and final Conan book in this series is due this fall. The Bran Mak Morn stories are some great historical fantasy, and fans of Lovecraftian horror will love "Worms of the Earth".
Qwyksilver
Yeah, I have the previous 3 anthologies. They come out every 6 months in these reissues. Next Conan should be out in December of this year. I'd never read Robert E. Howard until I caught the Solomon Kane book. Now I mourn the fact that this man sought to end his life while in his prime. Such a loss. It is unfortunate that so often some of my favorite authors have had such terrible demons that eventually consumed them. Unglef
For those of you that are fans of Howard's Conan, I highly suggest reading the new Conan comic. Very Two-Gun Bob-esque.
lionmane
On a related note, this year's Howard Days in Cross Plains, TX was another great gathering of REH fans. I highly reccommend fans to attend...next year's is supposed to be bigger and better. Hope to see y'all there!
primeval
For those of you that are fans of Howard's Conan, I highly suggest reading the new Conan comic. Very Two-Gun Bob-esque. YES! I can vouch for this - the comic is FANTASTIC! (On a slightly-related topic, the new Red Sonja comic has very nice artwork, but Dynamite Entertainment are pissing everybody around with their lateness. ) Tommy. That and the 202 covers for every issue of Red Sonja.... Both the Conan and Sonja comics are good though. Also started reading the Age of Conan series that just came out - so far so good. primeval
What's that? Tommy. There is a new series of books set in Conan's age about other characters, not Conan. First series is about another Cimmerian, should be a new book out about every month from the looks of it. http://conan.com/aoc/index2.shtml
gwangi32
Bran Mak Morn was great but what I like about the series so far is all the end notes and the fragments. Worms of the Earth is among REH's best stories. So many of the previous printings have the stories finished by other authors. And the last book in the Age of Conan series with Kern Wolf eyes just came out. I liked the first one, hope the series keeps it's appeal. primeval
And speaking of Bran Mak Morn: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=10369 WOOOHOOO!! Tommy. Not sure if this has been talked about here yet, but if you like the idea of the Bran movie this should also appeal to you: http://www.conanrednails.com/ It is a good time to be a fan of the swords-and-sorcery works of REH! gwangi32
Wow that Red Nails movie looks great. The new comic series by Dark Horse is really good as well. Yup it's a good time to be a REH fan. There are other rumors of a movie as well: Solomon Kane Might not happen, sort of like the Conan Game for GameCube et. al., advertised for a year or more but still not released. Then there are the series books that take place in the Hyborian Age. The first trilogy was good enough, plenty of action. The next thing you know there will be a third Conan movie for the Guvenator to star in.
primeval
No updates on the animated movie for awhile, but this image is of what Conan will look like in the movie: Animated Conan
lionmane
Very John Buscema-esqe. Not bad.....though I was hoping for a more Frazetta-inspired look.....but John B. was my favorite Conan comic artist. Way to spread the word on REH over on this forum, Prime! I am just glad it doesn't look like anime - have you seen that Red Sonja one-shot cover done anime style? Looks awful! Hey, gotta spread the word - more fans, more product :)
