smokingwreckage
For tabletop, I'd say only: consider a higher final highlight for the sword. Maybe just some more drybrushing with your brightest silver. maybe a slight extra drybrush on the very highest bits of the armour. This is just to get that extra "bling" from the other side of a table and let the enemy know they've got some steel-clad vengeance headed their way. For display: hit it with a layer of matte varnish, work up some more highlights, hit it with matte varnish again. Apart from that it looks like a very neat and well executed simple paintjob! Niloc
Now there's a sninny dwarf. I have to agree with smokingwreckage and a matte coat would do this mini justice (for tabletop or display). Nice painting bikerdrew. Thanks for sharing.
GeekGirl
Very nice paint job! The only thing I would add is some contrast in the hair. It's a bit one-colory right now.
Jabberwocky
I think you have done a great job on the eye. I would agree with the other posters in that some matte varnish would take off some of the shine from the mini. The other suggestion I would make is to add a bit of variation to the armor; perhaps adding some color to the fleur de lis on the breast plate. You have a lot of steel on that little guy and it all kind of runs together. Keep up the good work!
bikerdrew
Thanks for the helpful comments. I've been doing armour differently since that figure - I thought it a good example of the flatness I spoke of. I use a Games workshop spray varnish that has a satin finish (it is quite glossy, actually, and care need sto be taken with it) - If anybody knows of a good matt varnish in a spray available here in England, I'd like to know where I can get some. Testor's DullCote is available in the UK from at least one source. It was posted on another message board. http://www.horsingaround.com/acatalog/Testors_Dullcote.html
