tabascojunkie
I found the DHA box set awhile back and was wondering why the game was never expanded on(that I know of) and went OOP. When I started digging through the fluff in the book I noticed how heavily the DHL minis draw from the story of the world, and how the story continues on into the Warlord world, and the CAV world though I haven't read too much of the CAV fluff. Like I said, just curious.
Crusoe the Painter
Warlord is very much influenced by DHA, alot of rules are similair. Reaper tried to sell DHA as a Mass Battle game. The problem was the rules were more suitable to skirmishes. Imagine 2 blocks of infantry fighting, but you resolved combat for EACH individual fig in the front rank by applying the Warlord support rules to that fig. Lots of counting, bonus adding, etc. Also the leadership system was wonky, and really made no difference if you were one guy on your own, or backed up by ranks of infantry. In a early casketworks though, there was an article for using DHA in a treasure-hunt style mordheim-esque game, with small groups fighting for gold in a village. This showed it worked well for skimishes, and I believe, planted the seeds for warlord. DHA had some good bits, and some bad bits, and it failed as a mass-battle game. But, those good bits got a second life in Warlord.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted July 24, 2005 Moderator Share Posted July 24, 2005 DHA used opposed rolls very much like CAV v1, its direct successor. Warlord took out about 3/4 of the die rolling, sped up game play, and cut out a lot of the extranneous stuff.
tabascojunkie
Cool, thanks. One thing I'll say is I like a lot of the story behind all of it. With more info than we have on Adon so far from Warlord, I think it would make a good roleplaying setting.
haldir
there is suppposed Adon World guide coming out sometime, but with all the work Reaper has on their plate right now, it just pushed off the table. Hopefully it still is coming out. I'd buy it!!! Randy M
smokingwreckage
I'm guessing that the stunning success of Warlord may have pushed new roleplaying releases back a bit as they try to keep up with demand for faction books AND put CAV2 out. Reaper User Vaitalla Posted July 25, 2005 Reaper User Share Posted July 25, 2005 I'm going to stick my two cents in here and say that if you're looking for Adon world fluff, you can check out the Warlord army books; almost half of each book is fluff about the Warlord faction it covers. Not sure about the others, but I know that my own contribution (Crusaders) contains a number of bits of info about the Breonne and Racheau Templar Orders (past and present) mixed into the Taltain references. --Anne
claymoore
I really enjoyed the DHA setting and still use it as the basis for scenarios, running modified versions of Warlord rules. There is a D20 book, "The Eldest Son" that is set in the DHA World of Adon. I even created enlarged, extended maps of Adon for my personal gaming experience. My requests for further info about Adon fluff and how much will make it into Warlord have gone unanswered by reaper. I know they are busy creating new great stuff for us but it will be alot of work to change my fluff if they decide the 'new' Adon is in a world with only one sun instead of two. tabascojunkie
. There is a D20 book, "The Eldest Son" that is set in the DHA World of Adon. I've seen this and may pick it up just to convert it to my favorite RPG (puts on flame proof suit) HERO System. Anything with more info and especially adventures for my no-imagination having self is a good thing.
Kheprera
Actually, I love Hero myself. I also have Eldest Son. It's a pretty decent adventure although I haven't run it.

Qwyksilver
There's also a guide to roleplaying in the Necropolis: Thule faction book, which I am hoping will continue in the future faction books. Maybe this will be all part of a precursor to an RPG based out of Taltos. <dare to dream>
Ranzadule
I've seen this and may pick it up just to convert it to my favorite RPG (puts on flame proof suit) HERO System. And I'll do it for Rolemaster!!! *Ducks*

GrozYeti
1 hour ago, The Steve said: OOOOH can you tell us more!??!? Wow, Council of Steves member. Nice necro of a 16 year old thread. I think what he was referring to was called the Kargir Hunt. It was a multi-part campaign that was threaded through Casket Works issues 2,3 and 5, That stuff is all over 20 years old, and fizzled shortly afterward. Reaper used to have PDF's of all the old Casket Works on their site, but they've long since vanished. Some creative googling should find you those PDF's if you're really interested.
